Zombie contingency plan.
Inspired by Cracked.com's wonderful article:
http://www.cracked.com/blog/whats-yo...al-strategies/
with ideas like this:
Quote:
The “Don’t Feed The Animals” Stratagem:
Luckily there is a retirement home/community only a few blocks from my house. Plenty of applesauce and boardgames for me; plenty of slow and senile people for the zombies.
Pros: Another plan that relies heavily on feeding old people to the undead. It is nice to see that practicality is taking front seat here, with such concerns as “love” or “morality” in the back. Way Back. Like in a trailer. At the gas station. Twenty-two miles ago. Which is now covered in zombies.
Cons: Again, lacking in details. It seems like everybody planning on using the elderly as zombie chaff have little else to go off of. What happens when the elderly run out? Much like feeding wild animals, you have taught the zombies to rely on your location to provide free food. The difference here being that when you show up without food for the pigeons, their revolt does little but soil your suit, whereas if you show up empty handed to a zombie feeding, you end up being that which they soil their suits with.

In the wake of a zombie outbreak, what would be YOUR contingency plan?

That's probably a pretty good plan. BaB's a nice guy but I dunno if he could bring any useful skills to the table...maybe use his as bait...

Re: Zombie contingency plan.
Go to the nearest gun store, then go to the airport or a ferry terminal to make a stand. Seems like a good place if the zombies dont get there first.

Ya, but if you could clear it out it would be good. Our airport is on an island of its own so just set up there and put outposts at the bridges. And if that doesnt work then go to a ferry terminal, tswassen terminal to be exact. Its just a long narrow piece of land with ocean on both sides.

Re: Zombie contingency plan.
In the wake of a zombie outbreak, the first and most logical thing to do would be to get as many supplies as you can, and then get the hell away from any major cities.
My contingency plan would depend on how the zombies behave. If the outbreak produces Romero-esque zombies that are slow, I would most likely try to venture back into the city at some point for more food, guns and medical supplies. If the outbreak produced fast zombies like the ones in 28 Days Later, I would probably never return to the city.
In any zombie survival situation long-term food solutions will be an issue. I think farming is really the only logical option over extended periods of time. Eventually I would have to look for a plot of land that can be secured by some sort of barrier and attempt to establish a colony. I would preferably do this on a small island off the coast, and the island would have to meet the requirement of having rocks around it so that it would be difficult for boats to reach it. I figure my biggest concerns once establishing a habitat on an island is stray zombies that drift ashore (from other sea vessels or from swimming over), or other humans who want to take over my island.
And I would always have an escape plan. My boat would have supplies on it and be ready to abort the island if worse comes to worse.

Re: Zombie contingency plan.
Going a little more in detail:
Weapons
Guns
30/6 Hunting rifle for long range with makeshift silencer
.357 Magnum (silenced) for medium range and concvenience
Sawed off 10 guage shotgun for stopping power and path clearing if cornered
Melee
Machete - Heavy blade for chopping, and a wide cutting area reducing the need for accuracy in a close fight.
Polearm (long stick with a sword or large cutting blade attached) - Good for keep nasties away from boats, cars and second floors
Brick hammer - The finishing blow once they're inapacitated

Re: Zombie contingency plan.
One thing is, I apparently don't have to worry about other GT members slowing me down.
I've given this some thought, and if I can gain entry into a prison, I think that would be the best hold-up.
-It has a supply of weapons.
-Supply of food that won't go bad quickly.
-Amp security with fences.
-High towers to pick off any strangling zombies
-And I would assume a staff parking lot with cars if I need to get away.
Also a prison is big enough to hide out in if they break in and for you not to get bored and go crazy while you await the gov't rescue.

Don't you ever watch movies? They just nuke the place, they don't care about a few survivors.

Well first and foremost no way you are going to be able to carry all of that for extended travel.
What you need is one gun that can fire powerful shots or lots of shots, is fast to reload, and wont really weigh that much. Something like a small machine gun would be optimal here.
For a melee weapon you're going to wont something durable, something that you'll be able to use over and over and not have it break as so many melee weapons probably will in short time. Perhaps the best option here is the Machete which are very durable and pretty light as they are made to chop some shit the fuck down, even if it's some fucking zombies. Even then I would grab two of them because they will eventually break.
To be honest I would immediately gather supplies and weapons and leave for where I grew up. Head for the cabin back in the woods and start a fucking garden I suppose. Living like a pilgrim until the day I feel safe enough to venture into the city again. Probably about 2 or 3 years time should suffice for any viral outbreaks to pass and those infected to have killed each other or died of the disease or whatever. Although the first sign of trouble I would GTFO.
