Something like that was happening to me some months ago. Strangely enough, all I did was unplug my cable internet connection from the computer and the PC booted up as normal then I reconnected it. I had to do this every time I went on the computer for a while. Maybe that'll work.

If its XP, you can try repairing it. When you get to the blue screen area on the install when its booting from the XP cd, dont choose the first repair that it shows, go through steps until you see repair a second time.
Other then that, probably gonna have to reformat unless you can get into safe mode and run a virus scan.
LAMO My dads computer had the same problem. in fact I just got done (sorta) fixing it. all I did was boot into safe mode log on useing the admin and made a new profile on xp now the computer at least works. Although it still has the problem when I click on the first profile.

Maybe if you stopped downloading porn off of the internet you wouldnt be having this problem.
