And Joe is right about the Canadian forces and big things. Canadian troops came up with most of the trench tactics in WW1 that are in American soldier field guides today. The Canadian army was a thing to be feared.
The arrival of American forces were near necessity to end both wars. The American troops were only "late" because the nation was once isolationist. When the war hit home, the States fought back. After the war, because the masses with views similar to yours felt America was "late", the nation grew in power and planned to be the first to jump to a conflict, rather than the last.

Russia did a lot of fighting, but they lost more troops and civilians than they were able to take out (both wars). The Russian losses dwarved those of all the other nations combined. It wasn't the Russian troops directly, but the Russian winter that defeated Hitler. Oh yeah, Stalin, too, was an evil bastard. Good quotes though ¦¬Þ

I also feel that Hitler did not lose the war just because of the Russian winter. The combined forces of the other nations could've tackled the problem (even though Hitler was much more prepared for war... he had a spectacular military base). If all else failed... there was the nuke for endgame. Not that nukes are the "nicest" thing to do, but they sure are effective.

Saying Canadian forces came up with trench tactics? The trench wars were fought on the fronts by Germany and France. Maybe Canada sat down and worked out "etiquette", but the system itself is very European.

The Canadians probably did have a stronger military system, as they weren't as isolationist as the States. However, when the United States was called to action, they got their gear built up pretty fast.

One thing that i bet most americans dont' know is that the only reason Canada was dragged into the first and second world wars was because of England. Canada was just as eager to be an isolationist, but at that time we still had ties to the Union Jack, and we kinda got pulled in anyways.

Ummm... We were not dragged into the second world war... We went to parliament and voted to do so. We could have said no just as easily.

And... Hitler and his Nazi's could have won WWII so easily.. but they are idiots and didn't capitalize on some major events...

Canada participated in WW1. They fought. They fought hard. They had some major victories. That's not "sitting down".

What the hell does that have the do with the quote, and why did you put sitting down in quotation marks? Are you trying to take those words out of context? Are you trying to make it look like I said the Canadians did nothing to help in the world wars? That is, despite the fact that even what you quoted proves otherwise.

The Candians did not design trench warfare. However, it is possible that they influenced the more effective and "modern" uses of trench warfare. And I assure you that recording specifics requires sitting down unless you know that the Canadian decided to record the "etiquette" while standing up!

Do not take my words out of context.

Back to the damn topic:
Canada is a snowy place without guns... I'll pretend that's all I think about it right now.
