Re: What is Canada?
I see Canada as a bunch of usless un-inhabitable freezing cold land. Even though I suppoouse thats not entirely true. And I suppouse the people are nice or whatever...not much different than Americans....

Re: What is Canada?
The United States should be the more free.. But it is not... I mean, I think that the Canadian and American etho should be switched up.
U.S. etho: "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness"
Canada etho: "Life, Liberty and the Security of the Person"
I think that US wants their lives to be much more secure... And Canada is going more along the lines of the pursuit of happiness with the gay marriages and marijuana stuff.
Physically, I see Canada as a sweet place! lol... Great beauty up north.. But you cannot really settle it, unless global warming goes into full swing. I know I am Canadian, but don't worry, I think Canada has some flaws. I think that cities such as Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver can never be as big and have the status of cities like New York because of a simple thing... The size of the streets and the sidewalks! Such a little thing, but it makes all the difference...
And we need some more hockey teams.. yep.

The Jets aren't welcome back for sure. But for the country that created hockey, yes, we should definitely get some more teams. I'd be happy. More ass for the Canucks to kick.

Re: What is Canada?
lol, living in canada its hard to look at myself from outside the looking glass, but i'll say this that living in toronto and BC is pretty much hte exact same as living in Seattle or Houston, maybe even new york.
when i was in gr.9 geography we watched this video entitled "American Ignorance" which was a guy goin around to diff. parts of the states and asking questions about canada to various american citizens and it was just halarious, here is what i remember from that video:
Some guy in Texas -
About how big is Canada?
Uhh, pretty dang big, i'd say about the size of texas
Did you know VCRs were just legalized in Canada?
Really? Already?
What are your thoughts on the Polar Bear hunting marathon every year on Toronto?
Oh, I think its very creul and should be stopped immediatly
lol, i think it was random that said that canada is not interested in "healing the world", thats completely untrue, because since it's creation, Canada has been the only country to send peace keepers to EVERY SINGLE UN peacekeeping/peacemaking operation

Today's your lucky day, happyd00d...I just made you my b*tch.
1) Say you're sorry. And mean it. C'mon, don't be shy little one. Go on. Say it.
we'll start there, and see how things work out.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst If I had to pick one if I were you, I'd concentrate on the latter. Peace.

Re: What is Canada?
Gimp covered it. We have a peace keeping force. And we've participating in almost every major war in the last 100 years. We were involved in both World Wars long before the Americans were.

Haha. Those aren't really terms all Canadians use. Just me. Except I don't say eh. Most Canadians don't. That's just a silly sterotype. But hoy is mine. It's how I say hi. Do you know anyone else who says it?
I said "How's by you" once to an American online. I think it might have been Vampyr. It's just my crazy way of saying How are you doing. I was asked "Is that some crazy Canadian slang?" I laughed.

Re: What is Canada?
Here is my interpretation of Canada (as viewed by me, a Canadian). We live in a huge landmass, with cities spread fairly far apart, but where there are large cities, is where everyone is. Most people in Canada live in the city, otherwise it is mostly farm land. As for snow, it is cold for about 6 months of the year, where it does usually snow somwhat. Otherwise, summers reach mid 90's (30's Celcius) and in the winter sometimes as low as minus 30 or 40 celcius (yes its brutal.
The government functions similarly to the US one, only we have a prime minister, and for some reason they are focusing on gay marriage and pot laws. If you come to Canada i think you will find it to be a clean and enjoyable place, where you dont...well almost dont have to worry about being mugged or such.
As for speach, i say eh (lol), and meh, but hey, why not. I play hockey and it is my favorite sport. And well, i dono, thats about it.

Re: What is Canada?
I've never been to Canada. In my mind I envision a place that's always cold and snowy and not very developed. Small towns with family owned businesses, no large corporate companies like SafeWay or Kinkos. Small places that aren't chain restaurants like Uncle Ben's Waffle Palace or Howards Hamburgers. Yeah, I know this is probably very far from the real Cananda but I've never been to Canada.

Ive heard more than you say hoy, and most of them have been Canadian. Perhaps you said "hoy" to someone one day and then it spread all throughout canada???
I do hear "meh" quite a bit from Canadians, though, and started using it myself.
And yes, you ask me "How's by you" once on MSN. Never heard that before, nor have I heard it again.
