and actually many pc games of late have had an internal buddy list.

guess its a matter of preference on your buddy list.

i myself dont need everyone to know what im doing every second or where i am.

if someone sends a message... i will answer em if i want. i myself find choice is better then just this or that. and PC online has far more choices.

As for voice chat. i hate it. i dont like it. i have no reason to listen to whinny little ass's my whole game. i can see it enough in text.

part when its used most. is for Clans. and when your in a clan and goto a match. you just set your whole team on the voice chat program of choice and you're all on. and the fact that its seperate from the actual game, it effects the game less. and the game effects it less.
