It's like if a book was coming out that you wanted, and the author announces that they had time to kill after the book was sent off to be printed, so they wrote another chapter or two to the story and you can buy it seperately in a digital format when the book is released.

That wouldn't feel very good, knowing that the book your buying isn't the complete book.

In addition, the fact that in the past they made these types of things perks for people buying the game new, and now it's something you have to pay extra for, just irks me the wrong way. I don't like it.

In this day and age with the fierce competition among games, they can't afford to piss off their player base. It's just so easy for me to spend my money on something else.

Day one DLC isn't really anything new.. sadly.

My beef.. my biggest beef is the divide between CE and normal editions getting the content.
Especially since it was announced this late in the game and a lot of places have sold out of the CE.. so even if you wanted to support it.. you couldn't.

Its bad business.. in so many ways!

Someday we are going to talk about open source gaming and community development quite fondly. The days when you could buy a game, and download gigabytes of free user-generated content that kicked ass. Sometimes developers even put out free content.

Ya, I went in to EB the other day to upgrade to the collectors edition and they are sold out everywhere. Kind of a dick move.

Hey, Question you guys - didn't the Fallout series do this for their last 2 games, with no real gripes from anyone?

I sort of remember that Fallout has "collectors" and "bonus" editions from release, and some (I believe) come with extra game-content than the others - for If not, then oops.

I mean, I sort of understand how you guys feel you're getting fucked lube-less. I don't sort of understand it, I completely understand it.

However, if you don't want the DLC, just don't get it, you know.
If you can still complete the game without the DLC, the DLC is not mandatory. Its just bonus content that you can get to expand your own gameplay, but the loss of it doesn't alter your experience for the worse.

Look at it this way - were you really excited for this game before you knew about the DLC? Yeah? Good, go back to that thought - the part where you didn't know about the DLC. Then when you play the game, you're not thinking "Man, I'm rrrreeeeeaalllly missing out on Kasumi and Zaeed. They're clearly a pivotal part of this game." Did I say Kasumi and Zaeed? My bad. I meant whatever other DLC character they have this time.

Or if you'd rather - buy the game and play it for 2-3 weeks, then look at the DLC content and just pretend it was suddenly released - because that's miraculously acceptable, right?

I hate DLC either way. But that's the way gaming is now. I'll probably get the game when I can, but I won't be getting the DLC, because I never get DLC. Because I, too feel the whole "Fuck you, you're not getting my money for something you didn't include in the game" thing. I'd still get the game if I was originally pumped for it, though.

No the Fallouts did not do this. You got bonus content for Fallout if you pre-ordered it, whether it was the collectors edition or standard.
And I wouldnt have that much of a problem with this Mass Effect DLC if the character you get wasnt so damn important to the Mass Effect universe.

Luckily for me Mass Effect 3 comes out on my birthday so I'ma get it as a present. So I only have to pay $10 for the DLC and it makes it feel a lot less like EA is pissing in my mouth.

That and I have a friend who works at EA so I usually get their games for $20. Booya.

Also, nobody wish me a happy birthday. I care less about my birthday than the Mass Effect 3 release. I humbly request you wish me a Happy Mass Effect 3 day.

Forbes has been doing a stellar job of covering the problems surrounding Mass Effect 3 and its reception, which is quite shocking.

Put up these two articles today

http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain...r-entitlement/

http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertco...mass-effect-3/

Both relatively short reads, but get their point across without seemingly taking any one side.

I have been super impressed withe games journalism going on at Forbes as of late. I never even knew they had a video game section.
