The Dark Knight is better than PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

I want to call this place Dark Knight Tavern

Finally got to see it in IMAX (between work and it being sold out, my first chance was today at 3:40pm as the 7pm and 10:20pm already sold out yet again). Very awesome and something I could see again if I wanted to.

Magic trick was classic

Well I finally saw The Dark Knight last night, and I'm still processing it. Its not like anything I've ever seen before. Whatever is was, it was beyond what I was expecting. Nolan has blown up the genre of comic book movies and I believe raised the expectations of the audience with this film.

The Joker needs to be retired for a while. Heath Ledger's performance was iconic. Not only was he a great Joker, but he was pretty much the sum of everything there is to fear in this world: a danger we cannot hope to fully understand. That is what made him so dangerous and frightening. He should win an Oscar. If he doesn't, its only because the academy didn't want to be viewed as giving him one because he died.

Thats all I can say for right now. I'm still wrapping my head around it. One thing is for sure... every other comic movie director just shook their head and are wondering what the hell they are going to do now...

I think Marvel Studios is doing a great job. Marvel taking over the making of their own movies was the best move they've ever made. No, they still don't compare to the Dark Knight, but they're very good.

The Dark Knight just has an unbeatable combination of fantastic actors and a great writer/director. I think Nolan is the greatest writer/director we have living at the moment; anything he touches will inevitably be gold.

And yes, I think Heath has created a truly beautiful abomination with the Joker. We can't understand why he does what he does, but we can ponder it, and that is all the more frightening. His lack of any type of origin also heightens his character. After seeing the movie for the second time, I just sat and thought about what kind of circumstances could have made him what he is. It's also interesting to think about where he could have lived, or what kind of food he ate. It's hard to imagine the Joker sitting down to a meal.

Well, they hint it had at least something to do with how his father treated him but he never went into full detail if that is the only thing that caused him to become so manic.

Another thing I noticed, is that it never rained in the movie. Alot of dark moments obviously but no rain moments which was refreshing.

Yeah, but

I think it was also implied that he was lying about his father, as when he was talking to Rachel and said "Do you want to know how I get these scars" he made up a completely different story that had nothing to do with his father.

To quote my favorite Joker-ism ever, and Swan's current MSN name.

"If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it be multiple choice."

The Joker with no set origins or many different origins works because the man is well not all there.

The problem I see with retiring the joker... Plotly-speaking...

Joker avoided capture so many times (one person on IMDB said he seemed almost 'too invincible')... Then when he DOES get captured, he has a scheme set up to allow his escape (granted I don't know exactly what that scheme was because our showing of the movie cut off just moments before that scene)...

Then the film basically ends with him getting arrested again (presumably)... And we're to expect that, after all that, he's not going to be able to find a way out again?

I think Nolan and his crew have quite a predicament on their hands...

P.S.: In the film's first four days of release, it's already surpassed the previous record FIVE day gross, and is only ~$650,000 short of the SIX day record gross...

Not really spoilers, but could lead people to draw conclusions:

Things aren't really any different in the comics. It is stated that the Joker, somehow, has the ability to pretty much come and go as he wants from Arkham. Any time he is captured, he can escape at any moment. He says something like "I only stay here to rest."

There are times when he breaks out, does things, then comes back. This doesn't mean that the Joker is in every single Batman comic, though, so not being in the last movie isn't a big deal. They can just say something about how he's currently locked up in Arkham, and the audience can assume that he hasn't broken out yet.

The Joker's final words to Batman "We're destined to do this for all time" says to be that Nolan wasn't completely done with the Joker, and he would have had at least a substantial cameo in the third one, but alas. I don't think he'll be resurrected, just mentioned.

Man, the third's villians have a tough act to follow. What if they used the Mad Hatter and the Riddler? I would pay to see Johnny Depp as The Riddler, five times, and maybe Christopher Walken as the mad hatter. Maybe it would win them an Oscar for once.

I'd love Paul Bettany to play The Riddler.

Speaking of sequels, that reminds me of the most disappointing part of the Dark Knight when it finally ends -- knowing that there will be a sequel, and knowing that there is no chance in hell that it will be as good.

Very possible. I know he expressed interest in being the Joker before Heath Ledger got the role.
