Default Hints of Zelda GC-GBA connection

This is taken from a Miyamoto interview on GameSpot from the DICE event in Las Vegas.

Quote:
GS: Speaking generally about Zelda, will the game be taking the same approach as Mario Sunshine in terms of being an extension of the work started in the Zelda games on the N64?

SM: I'm trying not to comment too much on it today. It is hard to describe, but kind of the idea that I have is that the GameCube Zelda and the Game Boy Zelda will be more similar to one another. And that with the two of those, I think I'd like to try to create one greater Zelda world.
A similar game for both where he can create one large Zelda world. Sounds interesting.. wonders what he means

I think that it would be great that in order to pass Zelda on the GCN, you have to also beat it on the GBA. That would be amazing.

I think that if the Zelda game on GBA is like the two for Game Boy Color, then it could go great with the GCN version... unless Nintendo decides to make the GBA vesion cel-shaded as well!

That's something I hope they DON'T do with the GBA/NGC connectivity thing (at least not for major games like zelda)... cuz then you'd have to own an AGB to beat the NGC game, and not everybody with a gamecube will own an AGB (although a lot probably will) AND own both the NGC and AGB versions of zelda...

It would be neat if the two games were similar and they interact with each other in various ways... maybe for some of those extra little sidequest things maybe there will be like an area that's blocked off, and to get to it you have to do something in the AGB version...

It would be pretty neat though maybe if they make another game (and not zelda because you'd need two different main characters, one for each game, and y'know if Link's not playable in one or the other people will complain ) that's kinda like an action/adventure game and there are two main characters who work together... in the NGC version you play as one character, in the AGB game you play as another, and you'd have to like switch to the AGB game to use one character to use one of his skills to access an area in the AGB game or something... and the whole basis of the game would be that so it WOULD require an AGB...

but I dunno

There shouldn't be a game where you have to have both the GCN and GBA versions to complete it, unless the connectivity does really well and they are packaged together and aren't expensive.... it would be a hasle though, switching from system to system...

Oh DeathsHand, you don't want any connectivity becayse you can just barely afford a GameCube, and won't be able to buy a Game Boy Advance without selling more of your games

What is this? I remember a while ago I said that the GCN Zelda game was a cartoon, and then I got hassled by somebody (i forget who) who was telling me that there was a HUGE difference. So, a cartoon looking Zelda game on GBA will look different than a cell shaded GBA version of it.

How would they make a cell shaded game on an AGB???? Cell shading is a technique used in 3D games. So a 2D game can't be cell shaded. It can look like a cartoon though, like the previous Zeldas.

It's... it's only 70 bucks... I will be able to afford one sooner or later... and once we find out when zelda comes out, I will most likely start saving up to try to be able to get an AGB before the Zelda game comes out for it..... so
