Service Pack 2
Just got it installed. Turned off the firewall and AV thing since I already have Norton but they are nice features for people who can't afford something. And don't say Zonealarm is free because I know it is but I've heard their product has been going downhill lately.
But I have to give it a test on my programs later today to ensure nothing has been broken

Re: Service Pack 2
I also finished installing. No glitches, and since NAV is so easilly fooled by new viruses I have no antivirus yet. So I have the firewall working. I still have to test what will the new firewall do to my home network

Re: Service Pack 2
My computer just downloaded Service Pack 2 and it seems great. My wireless internet connection seems much faster. I also like the 'Show Desktop' button in taskbar. The Window Security Center makes me feel better too.

Re: Service Pack 2
I got rid of SP2 a few weeks ago. Messed around with 2 games and caused performance issues so I got rid of it until I feel I can use it fine.

Re: Service Pack 2
As far as I can see, all it's done for me is screw up various things on my computer and change them around. I use msn for the sole reason of quickly checking my hotmail, and after I did this update it is completely screwed up and different, limiting various options and preventing me from being able to do some things (like check my hotmail easily). Also other things like my image clients and software are different and crappier. God damn pain in the ass update.
how the hell do you get rid of it?

Re: Service Pack 2
Go into Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs. Look for one that says Remove Service Pack 2. That's how you get rid of it.

Re: Service Pack 2
Well I still have SP2 installed. Because of it I had to run a game in compatibility mode, and I had to log in safe mode with networking in order to have file sharing, but since I only needed a few times I let it on. The game has no other problems, it just wouldn't start if it's not in compatibility mode. I don't know why it would screw up the hotmail account stuff. It must be some of your setup things.

Re: Service Pack 2
SP2 doesn't have a built in Antivirus. It has a way to detect whatever AV product you have installed and you can have it tell you when its time to udpate or whatever.

Re: Service Pack 2
i wont let my computer install SP2, wont take the chance of it screwing with my games, when it poses absolutly no benefit to me anyway.

Re: Service Pack 2
Null hit the nail on the Head. Ive seen too many problems installing SP2. The biggest problems Ive seen is the AV that they have on it. In some cases if you have norton and install the new SP2 it turns off norton and forces you to use the AV/FW on SP2.

Re: Service Pack 2
SP2 has no AV what so ever. It has a Firewall and a way of checking if you have AV or not. It doesen't override anything. It actually shuts the built in Firewall if it detects the one you have.
Norton Antivirus is kind of old. It's been around for so long, that new viruses start finding ways around it and fool it. I've seen it on my own computer.

Re: Service Pack 2
Hm.... now that I think of it, my PC HAS crashed a lot since I installed it.
Somehow the ctrl+alt+del doesn't work.
Attached is a screenshot of what I can get. I have to shut down the shut-down-window.
I'm going to format soon anyway.
