Happy Leap Year Day!
I know for most of you, this bonus day is coming to a close, so sorry for the late celebration thread, just wanted to recognize it, won't be another one for another four years! Anyway, wouldn't it be cool if we were all still here for the next one!
The following question has been stolen from GameFaqs daily poll: What are you doing with your extra day this year?
And incase you're unfamiliar or a little unsure of you're understanding of leap year, here is a clear, consise article regarding it: http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/astronomy/LeapYear.html
Hope everyone had/has/having a good day!

Re: Happy Leap Year Day!
That link is also the first you'll get if you search "leap year" in Google, because I already did that today and got that website, heh...
My extra day? I've been readying about the atlantic slave trade and also The Oresteia by Aeschylus. Yeah, so I've been doing homework...If they got network TV here I'd be watching the Oscars, but no...only one TV on the whole campus and it just gets cable channels.

Re: Happy Leap Year Day!
My friend was born on February 29th. He's 20 but it's fun to give him a birthday card that says "For a very special 5 year old".

Maybe, but I think the CAB (Campus Activities Board) is actually taping the Oscars from somewhere and then showing them tomorrow or some later time, but I'll have to avoid seeing who wins and such.
EDIT: Don't wanna make another post, but to answer GM's question. First of all, I was only out of school for half a year, and secondly, yes, it is tough. I have to do way more work here than in high school. I could fake my way through high school and still get in the A minus to B range, and I was satisfied. Nevertheless, I have the oppurtunity to go and to graduate college, and that I shall do.

Re: Happy Leap Year Day!
Are you bummed to be in school again? After having a whole year off. I don't think I would be able to return.

Re: Happy Leap Year Day!
I spent the day skiing in wisconson with family and friends then driving over 5 hours home. It was quite warm for skiing today, bottom of the mountain got quite slushy, but I wore no hat, no gloves, and had my coat unzipped the entire time. I wasnt complaining.

Re: Happy Leap Year Day!
Me? I got to witness the culmination of the hypocrisy and racism of the United States government.
For a while now, I've been keeping note of the situation in Haiti, not knowing too much, but making sure that I knew something. And yesterday, we have a nation right off the Florida coast where a democracy is being threatened and the US government doesn't give a $#!+, yet we can go into Iraq, which was never a threat except to Mr. Bush's lemmings, destroy them, and claim that we care about putting in a 'democracy.' And earlier, we have our chief of staff saying that any refugees will be returned home. WTF? This truly is some lovely stuff. Haitian refugees have to be sent back because if you let one in, they all want to come. Nice to know that a refugee is nothing more than a roach, a parasite. But if it was something going down in Cuba, they'd be welcome here with open arms and you'd have a news report on them every single day. I wonder whether it has to do with skin color alone, or is it money? And I just knew that something stupid was going to happen there eventually, I just didn't know when.
What a lovely day it was. Just another day in this bicentennial year.

Re: Happy Leap Year Day!
I don't mean to slide this thread off topic, but for a long time now, it seems like whenever ANY country is in trouble, it alway's seems that the US must go and fix it. Why can't countries solve their own problems? Eventually the US will get into serious trouble itself and I doubt any country will come help us. But meh, my Leap day was good.

Number 1: I was on topic. All day long the big story in my home was the ouster of a president in the land where my parents come from.
As for why countries can't solve their own probs? Well, mister, you may not know this, but this government plays a large role in the politics of the weaker nations in this hemisphere. A very large role that makes nations dependent on the US so that US interests can profit and suck the blood of the resources of other nations. They make others dependent on them and make them think they're doing favors for them. But when they really need help, they're nowhere to be found. If countries were allowed to be self-sufficient, then you might have a point.
