1st or 3rd
alright
my little bro and i were arguing about the best way to see things in videogames 1st person or 3rd
i (repeatedly) said 1st right
and he said 3rd now
in general, in racing games i always use 1st person view and he in 3rd
and in shooting games i love 1st person
but not him he's 3rd
so what do you think
in all games like shooting, racing, ect.
tell me
prove my bro wrong

Re: 1st or 3rd
Shooters definately first person. Racing games I usually choose first person unless it has a really crappy first person view (ie: too close to the ground or too high from it in fpv). But for almost any other game, 3rd is preferred, unless first person is preferred/is more suited for the game. ie: Metroid Prime.

Re: 1st or 3rd
There really isn't a "best" way to see things in videogames. It's a matter of preference. I happen to prefer the 3rd person view. For example, in Metroid Prime, I would like to be able to see all of Samus' body and guide her through the levels in that perspective as opposed to the way it is, where you're given the perspective as if you're the one in the suit.

Typically 3rd, but in racing I use 1st person more often than not.

theres always a best way, its called what the game was designed for. In metoid prime, 3rd wouldnt work because the body would get int the way when you try and aim. if it was designed differnt, say you didnt have to look up then 3rd would work. always depends on the game.

I have seen every type of view work in any type of game... it's just preference.
There are third person shooters that work just as well as first person ones... there is first person football, I guess someone may like that... 1st person fighting, was in virtual Fighter 1 I think, and it was ok... 1st person RPGs like the old phantasy star and Morrowind... there isn't really a best.
funny you mention Metriod, a "first person action game" that has lock on aiming... why couldn't they have made it third person like GTA3, and when you point up have the blur effect that most third person shooters have?
What works the best is in the eye of the player

preference in games that are designed for it.
3rd just wouldnt work in metroid prime. (and all console fps lack in aim, thats why they have auto aim) i can see GTA3 working in first or third. but you dont have to do the stuff reqired in metroid prime, it would get just annoying.
PC FPS games let you put it in 3rd person if you want, theres always a command for it. it just doesnt work unless your goofin around, or making a video.
it all just depends on the game.

MP doesn't have auto aim, it has lock on aiming similar to Vice City. It doesn't have precision aiming like a real FPS. So it could work in 3rd person if they move the camera over the shoulder like in GTA:VC. All console FPS have auto aim to an extent, but lock on aiming is a whole different story. Lock on aiming appear in 3rd person games more, Like Zelda, Dark Cloud, and as you mentioned GTA.

not always something to lock on to. sometimes you have to look up to see things, or look where to climb. Not just to shoot enemies.
the way it would work, is something like zelda, or MGS, where as when looking up is needed it switches to first person view.
I'm just sayin, the question wanst what kind of game you prefer, it was which mode is better. And the better mode almost always depends on the game being played.
