If you were to get a P4 mobo and processor, you most likely will have to get a P4 compatible power supply because I think the P4 mobo's have an extra power thing that you have to plug in and if your power supply doesn't have it, then you can't run the mobo. That's basically what your friend was talking about you maybe having to get a new power supply if you got a P4.
But ummm..if your on a budget, you can get a good AMD mobo between $75-150 and 2500 Barton for $90 on
www.newegg.com But if you figure out whether your getting a P4 or an AMD, post it and others will help find you a good deal.
