No sound?!
When ever I try to play an audio file or anything with sound on it in Quick time, there's no sound! I even tried playing some of the audio stuff in WMP, but the same thing was happening. I know for sure I have the speakers plugged in, because my computer makes that welcome sound whenever I start up the computer.
I tried reinstalling quicktime, but nothing has changed. Any ideas?

Re: No sound?!
This happened to me when using quicktime. Except I wasn't getting a picture and I could only hear the sound. I tried looking in the control panel and everything and it still wouldn't work. I had to ditch Quicktime for WinAMP www.winamp.com and I've been happy ever since.

Re: No sound?!
winamp is good and all.
but its the point of the matter that the sound SHOULD be working. not just finding a way to skip it. there are vid files that winamp wont read and you will need either one or the other media program
what sound card is it? or is it integreted.
and if both. is it switched to the right one in the settings?

Let's see... Creative Sound Blaster PCI128 and Sound Blaster PCI128 Legacy device...
It says both devices are working properly, but I don't know where to check to see if they;ve been muted. I doubt it since some other sounds are working.

Re: No sound?!
Well... in the back of your computer. if you have 2 sound cards or devices. there would be 2 places to plug speakers in.
did you try both? it might of set one to default and you using the other.
if thats the case you would switch to the one you want it to use.
Also check your start menu > programs And look for Creative. and see if theres any programs put in when you installed the sound card.

Probably muted. I had the exact same problem with my work laptop.
Also check the audio properties.
Speakers are plugged in as you hear sound, so I assume the driver is working. I bet you it's muted somewhere (or volume is really low in the problamatic program).
If not then reinstall all sound card drivers, you can't go wrong

Well, problem fixed. Though I thought all the leads were plugged in properly/tightly, I decided to shut my computer off, and 're-plug' them in. And now the problems fixed. But I don't know why that would have been the problem, since the speakers were making a sound in the first place?
But anyway, thanks for your help guys!
Radiohead has never sounded better!
