Default What were your favorite kids game shows from the past?

These are my picks, in no particular order:

Double Dare
Finders Keepers
Fun House
College Mad House
Legends of the Hidden Temple
Make The Grade
Nickelodeon Guts
Nick Arcade
I'm Telling
Pictionary
Think Fast
Video Power
Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego?
Where In Time is Carmen Sandiego?

Perhaps I should share some of my fun facts about these game shows:

-Despite the premise of Double Dare, the host, Marc Summers, has OCD. He'd clean up his room a lot when he was younger. He also wrote a book about it, which is entitled Everything In It's Place: My Trials and Trimuphs with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

-Larry Toffler, the second host of Finders Keepers, was a contestant on a game show called Debt, and then Greed. Here's a link to some snapshots of him when he was a contestant on Greed:
http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/an...toffgreed.html
It's also a part of a site dedicated to Finders Keepers, which leads to a lot of other facts, as well as links to sites dedicated to Double Dare and Fun House.

-I once met a guy who was wearing a Finders Keepers t-shirt. He got it since he's one of the people who helped build the Finders Keepers house. I wanted to ask him more questions about it, but I didn't want to be bugging him.

-Maria Milito, the announcer for Make The Grade, is now a DJ at WAXQ (104.3-FM) here in New York. It's a classic rock station. Here's a link so you can see her profile from the station's web site. It doesn't say much about her, but her face is reasonable to look at though:

Lew Schnider was MTG's first host, and was also a comedian. However, I thought he could have been more lively when he tried to crack jokes in his days hosting the show. He also writes for "Everybody Loves Raymond".

-Greg Lee, the host of Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego?, used to work for Double Dare and was responsible for audience warm-up. Marc Summers also appeared with Greg Lee in the fifth season premiere of WITWICS. He was also in a few episodes from the second season of Ghostwriter, provided the voices for the Mayor and Principal Bob White in the cartoon Doug, and appeared in a Nestle Flipz commercial.

-Some of you probably knew this already, but Lynne Thigpen, who played the Chief on Where In The World/Time is Carmen Sandiego?, passed away earlier this month. She was 54. She also starred on CBS's "The District". Here are a couple of links to articles concerning her death:
http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet...t/showid-1712/
http://www.africana.com/articles/dai...030411lynn.asp

-A friend of my family's attended college with one of the guys from Rockapella's Sean Altman, from WITWICS. I also knew three contestants from the show's first season. Two from grade school, and one from an afterschool center I used to go to from third to fifth grade. I also knew another kid from the afterschool center who was a contestant on Super Sloppy Double Dare.

-Mike O'Malley, who hosted both Get The Picture and Guts, is on CBS's "Yes, Dear". He also voiced Darryl on the cartoon "Baby Blues".

-In case some of you remember the short-lived kids game show, Treasure Mall, Hal Sparks used to host it. He's on Queer As Folk now.

-Brian Robbins, the host of Pictionary, also played Eric Mardian on Head of the Class. He was also the producer of Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, Black Sash, and Nickelodeon shows like Kenan & Kel, All That, The Amanda Show, and The Nick Cannon Show.

That was a great show. I just wonder what happened to the host though.

I saw the set for that show when I was in Florida in 1993, and visited Nickelodeon studios when I visited Universal Studios. I could have gotten tickets to be in the audience but they were sold out.

Double Dare methinks...

I also liked Nick Arcade, Legends of the Hidden Temple (with the big stone face that would say stupid things like "Oohhhh yyeeeeaahhhhh") and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego...

I hated Guts God, such a boring show...

My mom liked Legends of the Hidden Temple. We'd watch it together.

I liked Double Dare too.

Too bad 90% of the kids that went on Lengends of the Hidden Temple were too stupid to be able to find all the peices in the final challenge.
