Default I've finally done it!!!!

I upgraded my pc from W98 to WXPP. It's so much better. I've used Xp b4, but coz I'm a n/w administrator, I don't usually get time to make MY pc run well. So I've kept the same old stuff for it. Recently I decided to take the time to fix my pc for once.

I also bought 512 MB SDRAM (one simm) for $120 AUST. PRetty good price. Now I have 768MB RAM

But now things are looking heaps better. And with my Symantec Internet Security package up and running, I expect this Pc to be running this smooth for a while to come!

98 is really bad.

Enjoy your wonderful new operating system. Having a new operating system can make an old computer feel new.

Heh heh...Just be happy you havent bee using a 400mhz AMD for over 4 years now. Sure, it was pretty fast when we got it, but ive wanted a new one for like 2 years now.

Maybe you'd like my PentiumII 350. I'm sure it's much better .

I'm thinking of buying a new computer though. Which would be better: A 3.06 Ghz P4 or an AMD something?

I think the top of the line P4's are faster than the top of the line AMD's right now. But you cant get that fast, that would be faster than the new one I plan on getting

Besides, thats gonna cost you a fortune anyways. You can probably get a 2.66 for 400 dollars or more less.

Couldn't you just get a new processor?

He'd need a new motherboard, and if that don't support SDRAM then u gotta buy DDR RAM. Most of the time it's better to buy new hardware I reckon. Coz hardware wares out afta a while

Intel Puts 3GHz Pentium 4 Processor on Hold
By Jeffrey Burt

Intel Corp. has delayed the release of its 3GHz Pentium 4 processor due to anomalies in the new chip.

George Alfs, a spokesman for the Santa Clara, Calif., chip maker, said that in recent testing, engineers "found an anomaly with" the chip, which was scheduled to be released last week, along with a chip set for high-end PCs.

Alfs would not elaborate on the nature of the problems but said they involved only the Pentium 4 chips that support a new 800MHz front-side bus in the 875P chip set, formerly known as Canterwood. A 3.06GHz Pentium 4 with a 533MHz front-side bus has been shipping since November. Alfs was unsure how long the delay will be, saying only that Intel officials said they expect it to ship soon.
I read that the ones already shipped may get a software fix instead of replacing them.

At newegg.com the Intel Pentium 4 / 3.06GHz 512k 478 Pin Processor HT Technology 533 MHz FSB Retail ETA 4/20/03
Specifications:
CPU: 3.06GHz
Type: Pentium 4 Northwood
Cache: 512K
BUS: 533 Mhz
Socket: 478 Retail (Box with Heatsink and fan)

was $389.00 and the P4 2.66 was $220 US. The $400 dollar quote of yours would be closer to Canadian retail about.

Quite whinnying just be glad you don't have the Pentium MMX 133mhz I'm stuck with.
