Any Good Movie Editing/Creating Software?

Does anyone know some good Movie Editing/Creating Software? I want to check out some prices on some since I'm thinking about making a video for my Senior Project. Just give some names so that I can check prices on eBay or check prices on brand name sites. I dont want anything too pricey since its just a video I'm making and it doesnt need the greatest looks out there.

well... Adobe Premiere.

but its like $500

If you just want something to try stuff out with. and experiement and kinda learn about movie editing ..... Windows XP comes with Windows Movie Maker. free, dunno if you have XP tho.
