Dark Cloud 2 rides in with style *REVIEW SCORES*
Dark Cloud 2 looks to be one of the best RPGs...scratch that. Dark Cloud 2 looks to be one of the best games in the evergrowing PS2 software library. Not convinced? Here are some reviews:
IGN: 9.0
Gamespot: 9.0 (Editor's Choice)
Gamers.com: 10
Playstation Magazine: 5/5 (Game of the Month)
Still not convinced? Go play the game

hmm
Judging from the reviews, I wouldn't go that far and say it could be one of the best Ps2 games.
Is this the Dark Cloud that was hyped up to be the "Zelda Killer" and got above average reviews??
I'll definitely have a look at it though, I'm looking for a new RPG.

Yeah, some magazine said that on their cover about the original. I think it was Playstation Magazine, could be wrong.

i wish people would stop comparing this game to Zelda, they have almost nothing in common at all (oh, so you can lock-on to enemies and attack them like in Zelda, i guess that means they copied Zelda!!! DAMN THEM!! )
anyway, its good to see some nice scores. PSM also gave it 8 out of 10 with a Must Buy award.

I saw the ad on TV... looks like a pretty innovative game. I might have to give it a try.

Dark Cloud 1 had sooo many things that came right out of OOT. The style was very similar, and they used enemies that looked very much like the skelitons in zelda, and had chests you opened to get weapons or whatever else. When I played it i so thought it copied zelda in several ways. There is no denying that they did copy zelda. Dark Cloud 2 seems very different from Dark Cloud 1. Though once again they too switched to the cartoon style like zelda. The series seems very much like sonic was to mario (except with far more similarities).
Dark Cloud seems like a really fun game so I might just pick it up along with ZOE2.

in Dark Cloud, you go through dungeons to find pieces of Atla to build towns. so because theres a few chests and some skeleton monsters, that means they copied off of Zelda? Do you know how many games have dungeons, chests, and skeleton monsters? In no way did I find Dark Cloud 1 similar to Zelda, its not Zelda at all. And Dark Cloud 2 is very much different than DC1, so what I was saying is that people should stop criticizing DC2 saying that its some sort of cheap copy of Zelda.

I'll probably just rent it or borrow it. I'm not buying it.
But on the subject of the first one, I thought it was horrible. Whatever..

pretty much all my friends thought Dark Cloud was very much like Zelda, they even called it a Zelda killer and they did copy the targetting system (which was created in Zelda and is a huge part of gameplay). The skeleton guys looked sooo much like the ones from zelda its not funny (duh, they're skeletons, but still, they could have looked diff). When i asked my friends what Dark Cloud was like (before i played it), they said it was like mixing zelda with some other games (don't remember the other names).
There aren't that many games with dungeons, chests and targetting systems just like Zelda. The town building stuff was diff, but the game still has a lot of elements copied straight from OOT. They even called it a Zelda killer.
Personally, i think DC2 is gonna be much better than DC. Either way i'm picking up ZOE2!!!!!

Considering some of the people who reviewed the game call it 'one of the PS2's best' gives me that impression.
ps2.ign.com has raised its standards...Tony Hawk 3 scored better than Tony Hawk 4, but the guys at IGN who reviewed both say that Tony Hawk 4 is FAR superior. As for Gamespot? They must not be RPG fans...most RPGs get slammed by them. a 9.0 from them is fantastic...they gave Ratchet and Clank a 9.0...not only is it possibly my favourite next gen game, but it's also receiving a lot of praise in GOTY awards.
the gamers.com reviewer said something like "RPGs are not fun. I'm a big fan of them, but fun is not the word to describe them. Collosal, Cinematic, Epic all work...but not fun. Dark Cloud 2, however, is PURE FUN."
