I was watching CNN a week or two ago, and they said that America will be using something like 90% more laser/computer guided missiles than what they used in the Gulf War. Or... 10% of the missiles fired in the Gulf War were laser/computer guided, and now it will be 90%... Or something like that. I forget which one.

You don't have as many uses for a soldier as you would waay back before we had these types of weapons.. Sure, they're still there for combat, but they used to be there for so much more.

Its very easy to say we should go back to swords and arrows, but not very practical. The technology is out there and it is impossible to go backwards. Even if all the world's governments decided to ban all weapons, some people will fashion boards with nails on them and rule the world.
We cannot deny the worst about our own nature, and the fact that bad men with guns will always be a part of the world. To take the high road with those who do not care about your principles is the same as allowing those people to rule you.
While the world may have been a scary place at times during the Cold War, no one died by the hands of the nuclear weapons the sole reason that their enemies had them too.
