Scariest video game moments
When you were playing a video game, what was it and what happened in it that just made you jump out of your skin?
Some of you might remember Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I was at the final palace, The Great Palace, and while I was going down a hall, this huge Bot (blue slime creature) jumped down from above. It just surprised me because they're usually small.
Oh yeah, I was fighting Mother Brain's final form while playing Super Metroid, and my cousin who was four at the time was in the room with me. He walked out of the room because Mother Brain scared him.

Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 are the only games that have ever scared me in a way that wasnt some cheap pop up scare. the very existence of the Pyramid Heads from SH2 is rather frightening.

I only played a little bit of Silent Hill, and mind you this was long ago when it first came out on PSX. I distinctly remember the ghost babies...they were just there...you couldnt kill them...they were just there and they freaked the crap outta me. Eternal Darkness had its moments...of course we cant forget the bathtub insanity effect. I ran across an insanity effect most people dont run across, it was in the back room with the piano, you hear this creaking sound, you walk to the other side of the room and there is a guy hanging there by his neck...his eyes open and he mutters something...very scary.

I generally don't play games that scare me that much... and when I play games that are supposed to scare me they don't work. (but RE wins the award for keeping me on the edge)

The only games that scared me were errm like RE1 and 2 (cuz I was young) and the Silent Hill games (mainly the first)...
I think the scariest part in a SH game (although it was a cheap pop-out thing ) was in the alternate school locker room where something is tapping on the inside of a locker and you open it and it's empty (in the normal world there's a cat inside), then you turn around to leave and some other random locker just bursts open and a body falls out
And yes I've said that a million times before when it comes to scary parts in games, but still...
Oh yeah and... errmmm... Beetles popping out of the ground in Metroid Prime?

yes, SH is such a fun game. the little girl calling on the phone in the school was kinda freaky too.
and in SH2, i remember in the prison, while i was walking along a hallway of cells i heard this weird walking above me, and my radio was going crazy, but i couldnt see a monster anywhere, and every so often i heard some weird voice that made a noise like "murshuno" or something. that was just weird, another reason why the unknowning fear is always the best.

Yeah the SH2 prison was quite creepy... did you know you can shoot that thing? When you kill it it falls down to the floor you're on (you still can't see it, but James follows it with his auto-aim... heh)... yep... Odd...

Parasite Eve 2 (I think). Where, after you beat the hotel, you go to these mines with the awkward beasts. Well, I ran out of bullets so I used a tonfa and nearly beat it to hell.
Also, in MGS... when Psycho Manits knew that I had been playing Suikoden! Gaaaaaaah (heh).

The first time I investigated the bathtub in ED. I think I jumped a foot and a half. Good god.

First level (well first real level after the real crap space flight scene) a monster jumps up out of the floor in the 3rd tunnel. I was ok with it but a friend almost had a hart attack lol

The bathtub in ED was a good one recently, but the first time I remember being scared from a game was the original RE, walking slowly down that hallway when the Dog bursts through the window, almost lost my ***

YES That was pretty freaking creepy. I loved it though...
And when I first played RE2 when I was younger, I was kind of scared... Although I thought when that dude at the gun shop got eaten by zombies, it was funny...
