An Xbox Live account is required to play Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II both offline and online. To play the game online, Xbox Live subscribers will be required to buy a "hunter's license" which gives gamers the ability to travel on wild adventures with other Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II gamers. It also provides access to a plethora of exclusive content such as seasonal quests, downloads and rare in-game items. .The hunter's license is free of charge for the first two months; after that there is an $8.95 monthly service fee.

* Communicate in real time with gamers from around the country. Use the Xbox Live Communicator headset to fully experience the online community - chat with fellow explorers, coordinate battle plans, and trade valuable items.

* Create and customize your own unique hero. Choose from 12 different character types in three classes: Hunter (powerful close-combat), Ranger (long-range support), and Force (magic casting). From body proportions to hair color, you create the unique appearance of your character.

* Three different modes of play - online, single player, and split-screen. For never-ending adventures, up to four players can cooperate and compete online in normal game-play modes or embark on downloadable quests via Xbox Live. The offline single-player mode lets gamers experience the same exciting online world, while the new split-screen action lets up to four heroes play on the same Xbox.

* All of the content from the original "PSO", plus a new full-length adventure for gamers to experience. Episode I includes all of the content from the origial "PSO" and "PSO version 2" , while Episode II brings a new full-length adventure to the Xbox. Test your endurance with Challenge Mode, or reign as the supreme champion of player vs. player combat in Battle Mode. Embark on new quests, explore new dungeons and acquire new rare items in this award-winning role-playing game.

Also An Xbox Live account is required to play Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II both offline and online. .

So much for Live... better to stick with PC online gaming... no but or ifs. Screw Sony's laggy online, X-Box's overpriced Live, and Nintendo's non-existent virtual online games and plans.

Up your Sega and Microsoft. Think Sega can make a **** load of money of us, while Microsoft compensate the fact that it's gving it's console away with free games dirt cheap. SCREW YOU BOTH. And we thought the GCN version was rip off.

Wow, that's great if it's free for 2 months. I might consider buying it now...

Ummm... okay.

So you won't play this game for more than 2 months... your lying to yourself. But playing offline should not be a problem cause you have a Live account... right?

Bond has a live account. And most games I don't play for 2 months, so playing online for 2 months free is worth it to a lot of people. Also, playing for another month would only bring up the price you paid on the game to $50.

And if you're addicted, than you don't mind paying the price. You get 2 months to decide.

Its a good "ploy" by MS, forcing people to buy something to actually PLAY the game. But honestly, why would you have to have Live if your playing offline? And how is PSO developed my MS?

Probably something to do with character creation. You can create characters with different names than your Live account. You probably need to select your account when creating the character, and then it can only be played by someone with that account.

The two months part is good (considering it only had a one month thing on cube, right?) but the XBL account for offline play is a joke. And since when does MS publish and develop PSO?

They don't develop, it's a misprint.

What's up Tarakan's butt? Jesus.

This is actually a pretty smart move. PSO was a big reason some people even bothered getting Live for in the first place and, at the very least, it'll boost the Live user base. It'll help MS and Sega.

And really, who in the hell plays PSO for AT ALL? I mean Jesus Christ. That's really secondary, more an add on really, and I'm pretty sure that the people that want PSO on Xbox already have Live accounts. Stop bitching and go back to playing the Gamecube version. Jeez.

I really don’t see what the problem is apart from a load of old women bitch about things! You get Xbox live for $50 for the first year which has a free game and the microphone add-on (which would cost you more then the live kit in the first place). Plus you get a really fast service on which can only be described as the best gaming servers I have every seen with the highest bandwidth of any gaming service in the world! All for $50 not bad if you ask me. No more crappy 56k’ers lagging games out cuss they can’t even log on thank god. And if you have not got BB sod off and play your little Gamecube online and live with the lag, I on the other hand will be playing on Xbox live with ping times of less then 50 (almost as good as LAN play) And having real fun.

At the end of the day you don’t play any thing for the PS2 and Gamecube services cuss they don’t have one! It is down to the developers and publishers to make there own server clusters which cost a lot of money and pay for the large amounts of bandwidth the 10,000 plus gamers need. Most 3rd party servers never run as fast as company’s like Microsoft can pay for. I personally think its Sony and Nintendo ripping people off selling a product that’s not up to the job 56k modems are just not up to the job any more. Could you imagine playing a MMPORPG like Asheron's Call on a 56k! No need to I have it was almost unplayable in fact it was the sole reason I got BB.

Oh and one last thing Sega need the money it gets from PSO.
