Thumbs up Got Splinter Cell

The camera isn't near as bad as the demo, in fact, it's not bad at all. And considering that was my only complaint...

This game rules! Graphics are great, though it seems they tried overly hard to make every window have extremely bright light and every object have a shadow. Sometimes I just laugh at it (like why would you put a light behind a fan?), but it looks great, no question.

Controls were kinda annoying in the demo. But the training mode made sense of it all, and they work out very nicely. No longer a complaint from me. Sound great, yada yada.

Only thing that sometimes bothers me is I don't know what to do. No map telling you where to go, and a couple objectives were fairly confusing on what to do (or at least where to go). It's like I wasn't clear on what I was doing, but I just kept moving ahead and accomplished it. Very minor thing.

Now for the question of the day:

If Sam wants to be hidden in the shadows, why does he have a glowing light on his back and 3 on his goggles?

Great game so far (finished mission 1). Highly recommend it to anyone with an Xbox. Anyone else got it?

are you using a Contoller S to play it? cuz i noticed on the demo that Controller S seemed to be the controller of choice for this game. and if so, is it better than the regular controller?

I only use the Controller S to play games. I hate the regular controller, for everything. So I wouldn't be a good judge.

And what do you mean controller of choice?

when the demo was loading it showed the controller S and wut every button did, basically showing you the controls. some of the buttons are situated differently on the controller S than on the regular controller, so the way the controller S looked to be set-up for controls looked better than how the game played with the regular controller. sorta like the game was made for the controller S rather than the regular controller.

did that make sense?

Ya. It's the same way with the full game. I thought MS made it the official pack-in controller now? If so, that would make sense.

It is the official controller for the Sega Bundle (Sega GT 2002 and JSRF). I still think they are using the regular one for just the Xbox itself. But I would figure everyone will be buying the bundle.

How long did it take you to beat Mission 1? I hear there are 9 missions, so unless it took you 2 hours, I think that would be pretty short. Thats one part of MGS2 I didnt like.

Not sure. It was awhile though, but I didn't time it. Fairly long mission, and it was only the first one. Not even close to getting into it.

Also 2 difficulties.

thanks for the impressions...if I don't get this game as a present for christmas, I'll buy it soon afterwards...

and it would take a loong time to make a stealth game with this much detail (SC, MGS) with 30+ hours of gameplay. level design, AI, graphical effects etc. take a long time to program...

so 15 hours or so would be just fine for me...

There are like 9 levels they didn't include in the retail version of Splinter Cell that you are going to be able to download through Xbox live next year. Upon other goodies.

Yes, Splinter Cell is coming to PC, Gamecube, and PS2. Though graphics will considerably drop in the 2 console ports. Gamecube could handle the lighting fairly well, but only if the engine was re-done specifically for Gamecube, which you know won't happen.

PC version won't be bad, but a controller would be much nicer for the game.
