I guess there could be 2 things that makes SFA #1. What DarkMaster said and it is the only Rare game on the 'Cube. I still have to rent the game to see how it is, so my opinion(s) don't matter until I play it.

Id agree, its selling because it has Star Fox in it. But anway, Nintendo takes top 3, with games all published by them.

SMS is down to 15, but I guess thats ok, it had a great run.

I agree, it didn't sell as good as most people thought...but at least it stayed up in the top 3 for quite a while.

You'd have to look at hardware sales to really see the impact of Mario Sunshine.

Before the game's release, the GameCube was selling around 4,000-5,000 units per week. Ever since Mario Sunshine's release, it has been selling no fewer than 8,000 units a week and regularly tops 10,000.

GameCube's share of software sold on a weekly basis has also increased, but I don't have exact numbers at this moment.

In Japan, at least, I think Mario Sunshine has done what it needed to do.

Like what, exactly? Revolutionize the industry like Mario 64? Put the GameCube ahead of the PS2?

Be realistic here. All the major innovations in 3d platforming have been made (adding the element of time doesn't count. I'd call that 4d gaming). What made Mario 64 so big was pretty much the fact that it had never been done before. Mario Sunshine could never claim the same thing no matter how much Miyamoto racked his brains. All that's left to be done now is to tweak the gameplay to perfection.

Mario Sunshine did as well as could be reasonably expected. Anybody who had been anticipating earthquakes throughout videogaming was just deluding himself.

Yeah but you'd expect that every Japanese gamer loves Mario... I guess that expectation was a bit too optimistic...
And Xantar, you really should see that StarCraft: Ghost trailer, it'll remind you of something...

At the rate it's going, Mario will probably break 1 million in Japan. I'd say that's pretty close to having every Japanese gamer loving Mario. Do you have any idea who rare million sellers are in Japan? The market is too small to have more than about 6 million selling games a year.

I did see that Ghost trailer. What are you thinking it should remind me of? If you are referring to that wonderful work of art which is linked to in my signature and which I plug at every opportunity, then I do see the resemblance. It's not very profound, though. There must be dozens of movies, games and books about stealthy female assassins. Now if Nova were to die halfway through the story...then I'd definitely start having deja vu experiences.

*runs away from the two people who actually read his fanfics and are upset at having a plot twist spoiled*

I liked SFA but frankly at times i was very frustrated with it like the button tapping Strength Test and there were so many confusing and painful puzzles it made me made but frankly i enjoyed but the story didn`t really lead anywhere and you never got to fight a few of the enemys and general scales hardly ever appeared in the game

I've made the mistake of taking back a great game, just because i was frustrated with single player...it wasn't worth it and it was a year before i had another shot. I have to admit with all the games Nintendo are bringing out, and all the HYPE they are getting, it seems GC games in Japan are gonna be at the top for a while.

I thought starfox adventures was a pretty damn good game!!!
I mean the graphics were tight and you gotta admit it being frustrated at times you loved beating the hell out of those dinosaurs!!

Oh yea and if you had trouble with the strength test just use your index and middle finger to rapidly tap the A button since it's so big together one after the other like peddling a bike it works perfect!!
