Exclamation Gamecube's(and GBA's) being stolen!

More than 23 million yen in GameBoy Advance and GameCube hardware stolen in Japanese heist.

According to a police spokesman for Japan's Saitama prefecture, approximately 23.6 million yen in Nintendo products including GameBoy Advance and GameCube consoles were stolen from a warehouse over the weekend. Reportedly, the products were part of a shipment to one of the district's largest videogame retailers in the Yashio center. Seemingly, thieves entered the building through a second story window by breaking the glass overnight. Based on preliminary estimates, about 600 GameCube and 400 GameBoy Advance units were stolen. It's currently unknown how many software titles were taken in the robbery. The warehouse theft is the latest in a series of videogame related burglaries which have made headlines in Japan over the past several months.

Only in Japan will they go into a warehouse and still 100's of 'Cubes and GBA's. Maybe the Japanese Mafia is behind it

Stealing gaming consoles...

Hopefully Nintendo doesn't have to pay for that...

I imagine they have insurance coverage.

If not, 23 million yen is about 200 000 American dollars, so for a massive company like Nintendo, there won't be any real difficulty covering that kind of bill. They'll get over it.

This absolutly reeks of some under handedness on nintendo's part. Honestly now, you cant steel a pack of oreos from 7-11 without getting caught on camera. How the hell do you take 600 gcns and not get caught?

my theroy, nintendo might have had some bad merchendise, defective stuff that they knew was bad, they also knew that there had been robberys of video game merchandise in japan in recent days. they hired somebody to go and steel the stuff so they could collect the insurance on the faulty systems.....
.

..... or maybe not, but its an idea, I really find it hard to believe that you could take that much stuff from that big of a company and not get caught.

Either way 200,000$ worth? is that what nintendo listed as their losses? If it is im sure that's the retail prices of the merchandise. At cost it's probably 1/4 of that price.

Well, this isn't Nintendo's first brush with the Yakuza. For instance, on the ve of the Super Famicom/SNES launch in Japan, the lorrys delivering the SNESs' to the stores had to be unmarked, as Nintendo were told that there was to be a highjack by the Yakuza. Just a little titbit of history there, anyways, perhaps Bill Gates funded this little crime in order to increase X-Box sales in Japan?

Who would waste their time by breaking into an electronics store and steal video games? Well, I guess if they plan on selling them, but if one person continues to sell a lot of consoles some other people would probably get a bit suspicous.
And if the burglars don't plan on selling what they stole, what are they gonna do with that many machines? Sounds like dumb idea to me...

They would sell them like any stolen goods. Under cover and for a cheap price.

Hm.. if they do, the buyers also have to buy more software. Now if Nintendo doesn't lose anything because of this, this would actually be an increase for them, yes. Excellent.

lads they're on to us!

*Slams the back of the lorry shut*
*Drives off at high speed*

Hmmm, time to pay a visit to backstreet market stalls in Japan methinks.

There's a big warehouse near where I live, wonder how many cubes are stashed there?

This crime must have been premeditated for them to get away with that much stuff, surely they had some kind of truck or lorry to drive it away in?
