NetFlix Streaming Comes To Ps3
Hey, its one of my favorite features of the 360 so good to see that PS3 owners get in on the love.
Though it has two major hiccups IMO,
1)it is disc based currently and won't change until sometime next year. Where as Xbox is a download and you're good to go.
2)No party system, I enjoy it though don't use it too often.
I got mine last Friday and gave it a quick whirl. I have never used the 360 one, so I can't say if any of the functionality isn't present here that is there.
But as far as I can tell, it does what it's supposed to do. It plays movies instantly. And the load time was quick.
The movie I tried out wasn't HD and it was pretty poor quality. That had me disappointed, but from that YouTube clip above, it looks like the quality is just dependent on the movie.

Re: NetFlix Streaming Comes To Ps3
Year old bump, but Sony and Netflix took their time!
Non-disc based streaming is coming to Ps3 next week in the States. Oddly was there since launch for the Canadians.
Quote:
*Movies and TV shows from Netflix will be accessible from PS3’s XMB menu under a new Netflix icon under the Video category. To access Netflix, PS3 owners will need to sign-in with their PlayStation®Network account.
*Support for Dolby Digital Plus 5.1-channel surround sound will enable users to experience premium-quality audio.
*A new user interface, including the recently added search functionality, will deliver a much richer and faster browsing experience, making it easier to find the specific titles you’re looking for or to discover new content.
*Some movies and TV shows will be viewable in 1080i resolution, offering an enhanced visual experience as more consumers adopt HDTVs.
*The amount of time to start playback will be improved.
*An increasing number of movies and TV shows will be viewable with subtitles or alternate audio tracks.
^^I've actually found netflix to be most valuable in giving me access to all the TV shows i've skipped out on for the past few years. Over the past couple months I've absorbed all of Better Off Ted, This American Life, and Parks and Recreation. Next up, Dexter?
