Default Bird's making tools

A couple of video's in this article show crow's making tools, i've never seen anything quite like this, and thought i would share it with the rest of you. Check out the first and four video to see what i mean.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8023295.stm

The vast majority of you will have to watch a small ad before the vid, if you're in the UK you wont; i infact i only discovered the BBC news website used ad's when i've tried to watch video's on there since i've been in Japan.

Punks! That's because they make us pay a T.V licence over here, one of their main excuses being 'because we dont have aderts' and you have to pay it by law even if you dont watch BBC. Punks! ( I know you know that but there are those that may not )

Birds making tool's is amazing isn't it. They are so intelligent it astounds me sometimes. It kind of puts paid to that 'small brain/stupid - big brain/intelligent' idea doesn't it. It would appear thats not in fact the case.

I saw a parrot using a stone as a tool at a bird park I went to. It was using the stone to bite at and bend the wire on a section of fence, causing it to snap. It had broken the fence along in a straight line. It was trying to cut it's way out.

Awe that's so cute. No wait, it's sad.
Animals using tools doesn't have to mean they're intelligent. It could just be a trick they learned and remembered, like dogs and cats can.

Lots of animals are amazing if you learn about them.

Take Dolphins. They're practically the only other sentient animal. They have the ability to make choices depending on how they feel. The reason dolphins save humans from sharks, isn't because they're dumb and think we're dolphins, rather they see we're in danger and want to help us, because they feel like being nice. Which also means there are dick dolphins who just let some animals/people die because they don't care. Which means dolphins have some sort of thought process, reasoning ability and confidence. Which would explain why some don't help animals in peril - because they think they will get hurt if they take on a shark. They also use sponges on their snouts so they dont hurt themselves when rummaging, and pass that on to their kids.

Dolphins are nuts.
