Headcrabs!
Figured I should make a thread about the most awesome parasite ever and inform people about Headcrabs.
Headcrabs originate from a planet called Xen, which is in another dimension right beside our. Xen is owned by The Combine who have enslaved its other inhabitants, the Vortigaunts. Naturally Headcrabs are the main prey to the other animals of Xen, on earth however, they are a much bigger threat. Why a parasite from another dimension is perfectly fitted to attach itself to a human, i dont know. Headcrabs came to Earth shortly after The Freeman killed the Nihilanth, which cause portal storms to happen all over the planet, bringing Headcrabs and the other life forms of Xen to Earth. The portal storms also got the attention of The Combine. There are several different types of Headcrab.
Normal Headcrab.

Your everyday Headcrab, doing what it does best, getting smacked with a crowbar.
Fast Headcrab.

Very quick and maneuverable and the most annoying one around.
Poison Headcrab.

Contains a deadly neurotoxin, making you an easy target for everything else.
A Headcrab will try to jump onto your head, dig into your brain and take control of your body, turning you into a "zombie". It also mutates your body, opening your belly to form a mouth and your fingers will extend to make claws. While this is happening the host body is still alive and conscious of whats going on. Headcrabs make a distinct noise when they are about to jump. The different kinds of Headcrabs form different kinds of zombie.
Normal zombie.

Your every day zombie, doing what it does best, getting cut in half by an oversized saw blade.
Fast zombie.

Also referred to as the ninja zombie, making large jumps and moving quickly. They also make a horrible screaming noise when they jump.
Poison zombie.

A Headcrab carrier, taking the Headcrabs off and throwing them far distances.
There is also a Zombine, which is when a Headcrab manages to get on a Combine soldier.

A Zombine has body armor which makes it harder to kill and it will also try to sprint at you and beat you to death will a live grenade.
The reason every zombie wears the same clothes is because The Combine have instated a dress code for every citizen of earth. The Combine have taken advantage of Headcrabs, putting them into metal canisters and firing them at rebels. This is what happened to Ravenholm, turning the town into a zombie filled hell hole.
You are now informed about Headcrabs!
Got any questions, just ask.

Re: Headcrabs!
There has been some concept art but thats about it. Knowing Valve, they probably wont release any info for a while, and if they plan to release a trailer or something it would probably get delayed.

Re: Headcrabs!
I just think its getting a little rediculous that we havent had a trailer or really barely any mention of the game, and its been almost 2 years since episode 2 was released.
As a comparision, there was only 1 year 4 months between releases of episode 1 and 2. So you can see why I'm wondering what is going on...

Re: Headcrabs!
Yes they are actually called Zombines, and the poison zombie doesnt throw his own Headcrab, it just throws the ones hanging out on its back.

Are the headcrabs on the zombie's back jealous that they don't have a head to suckle on? Is that why they climb all over his back? And why he has to throw them at you himself and they don't just run like every other headcrab?
And why can zombines run but normal headcrab zombies can't? They appear to be wearing normal headcrabs...
And why aren't there fast headcrab zombines? And poison headcrab zombines?
If every headcrab zombie looks the same because of the civilian dress code, why do the civilians wear blue jackets but the zombies wear white shirts? Are they the undershirts? If so, why didn't a single one manage to keep it's blue jacket on?
Also, where are the resistance member zombies? They seem to wear different clothes, and surely some have fallen prey to headcrabs...

Re: Headcrabs!
Damn. Alright, time to make some awesome feasible BS so everything turns out positive.
The poison headcrabs are just lazy, that's why they choose fat people.
Zombines can run because the only headcrabs to jump on a Combine soldier are slightly smarter than the average headcrab.
The fast headcrabs are to weak to get through a Combines helmet and Combines aren't fat so the poison headcrabs don't grab onto them, they just bite at them.
Yes the civilians wear white undershirts, and none of them have a blue jacket on because they were in such a panic that a headcrab was getting them that they had to tear off their jacket. Or a more likely reason, it got torn up and fell off during the zombie mutation.
Resistance members haven't really been near any place that has headcrabs. Maybe somewhere else that the Freeman has yet to visit. And if a resistance guy got headcrabed then the other members he was with probably shot him to put him out of his misery.
I have a question to. Why aren't there any Zombine Elites, that would look cool.

Re: Headcrabs!
How do you know the host bodies are still alive and conscious after their mutation?
Which race do you think stole the other race's idea? The combine with their head crabs, or the Aliens with their face huggers?

I think they said it in the game, and if they didn't then because I'm a nerd and looked it up.

They are a different kind of parasite. A face hugger jumps on the host to plant an egg, then falls off and dies. A headcrab jumps on the host and stays there, receiving nutrients from the host body.
Also, headcrabs don't belong to The Combine, they are just on a planet that The Combine have conquered.
And the last pic there is pretty awesome.
