Default It Ain't Dead Yet

Since Phil hasn't moved this forum yet, I may as well use it.

I finally received my PS3 today.
And thus far, I am a fan. Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted are probably two of the best looking games I've ever seen. Thus far, I still prefer Galaxy over Ratchet and Clank, but a quality platformer is still ace in my book.

Uncharted, I've only played the demo but it seems like a game I will love a lot, but gonna have to budget my money accordingly for 3 consoles.

Also, streaming media on the PS3 is so much easier than the Xbox 360.

However some complaints, why does everything need to be DOWNLOADED and INSTALLED? I mean why can't it be like 360.. it downloads.. its ready to go.

While the menu is nice, I think some of it could be better organized. Like 360 has a seperate blade for demoes/arcade games. Here, seems all games will appear along a line.

Day 2

Upconverted DVDs look nice as long as you get accustomed to the rain on the screen.
Blu-rays look nice as well... as far as I can tell. I only own two Spiderman 3 (which I dislike as a movie) and Casino Royale (which I am trying to hold off on watching until the end of the month for Bond-tober)

Ratchet and Clank remains an amazing game and now I am a little disappointed, I didn't get a BC version of the PS3 as would like to go back and play the older ones. I know this isn't the place for it, but I still feel that Galaxy is the better game.

And only comparing them because both involve space and a lot of similar puzzles such as the rolo-cycle in the fire pit challenge.

Anyhow, maybe I need to get use to it but I find most of the added SIXAXIS support kind of weird. I think its just I got accustomed to the Wii because it is so different where as the PS3 is still a controller which I feel weird tilting all over the place.

Ehm BaB, Super Mario Galaxy really doesn't need any defense.

Oh not defending Galaxy.
Just comparing them as I think the two marquee platformers of the generation so far.
And really they share a lot of common elements.

Wait, there shouldn't be rain. Maybe you have to calibrate it. First thing you should do is crank Mosquito Noise Reducer up to 3. It's a fairly new option that eliminates any "mosquito"-like things hovering around sharp edges.

Your TV is doing HDMI, right? Let me know and I can help you calibrate it. A properly-calibrated PS3 is a sight to behold on the right TV.
