What a mess. Power is still out at my place. My parents got lucky and got their power back late Saturday, so my girlfriend and I have been staying with them since Saturday night. No cable/internet there, though, so we were using a paperclip and aluminum foil for our antenna until my brother who is also without power came over with his family and brought their digital tv converter and antenna.
Trees everywhere just split in half, some onto homes and cars. Branches down everywhere. I don't know what the latest numbers are now, but somewhere around 3 million people were without power after the storm. I think somewhere around 1.5 million still don't have power, and they say it could take up to four weeks before everyone gets power back. Thankfully a cold front came in and gave us unseasonably nice weather for Houston.
Long lines for gas and food, but it is all there and available it just may take awhile.
Houston's a mess. Galveston's an even bigger mess. Places like Port Bolivar are GONE.
Yuck. I'm alone at work, just catching up on all the news in Houston that I've missed.
