I was just about to post Brian Regan. He is my favorite of today's comics. I saw him about a year ago live.
Also saw Mitch Hedburg live at Tulane. He started smoking on stage, even though it was a non-smoking building. The fire alarm was triggered, and every five seconds it would make a loud RRRRAAAAAAAHHHHN sound that drowned out whatever Mitch said. Of course timing is the sine qua non of comedy, so it could have ruined his act. But instead he split up his jokes so that he would pause every time the alarm went off and then continue with the joke until the next alarm, and he pulled it off perfectly. Needless to say, that endeared him to the audience.
