I don't agree with:

"#4 Though shalt make killing fun."

That is the stupidest thing I've heard all day. And on top of the pure stupidity of wanting killing to be "fun" in every game, the author cites Half-Life as a violator? Pretty sure Half-Life is a far superior game than one, David Wong, could ever make.

"#7 Thou shalt let us play your game with real-life friends."

Has this idiot ever played an RPG?

I only read the first point. I totally agree about the lack of splitscreen. SO many people asked why I couldn't play splitscreen Turok with them after it released.

I think you misread his points on both account.

In point 4 especially in terms of Half-Life 2 he was referring to starting off with some crappy (don't judge me about the crowbar) weapon when you want the real guns right away. Not about it being less "fun" as a game.

On his second point, he was more referring to games that have multiplayer aspect but only online like the games he mentioned. He wasn't talking about dedicated single player games.

Yup, there is nothing worse than not being able to do split screen. It is a dirty word nowadays since everything has to be online but people have real friends still.

Anyhow, I liked the article and agreed with most of them.

Especially about escort missions and non-skippable cutscenes.

Yes, in regards to point #4 he means that it is annoying when youre doing something like killing a bunch of headcrabds coming at you and you have is something like the crowbar.

All around the guy doesn't sound too knowledgeable, but at least he knows what he wants.

I agree with point 3.

There should be a law preventing another WW2 game from ever being made. Ever.

Same with the stupid space marine games. God, its SO overplayed.

Point number 1 was definitely the best though.
