Fantastic development platform over the PS3, though. PS3 doesn't even compare.

The stupid packages at launch time. No hard drive!!!! The cheap cheap bulind of the machines. Other than those i cant really complain. I love me some shooters, and i think the online is pretty well off.

O yeah also forgot multiple SKUs which limits development.

Well if you feel it, it a shooter controller. Way better than the other 2 in that format. PLus they managed to add something new to the shooter. Portal, TF2, Oblivian, and Rainbow Six :vegas have all expanded or borrow from the first person.

Oblivion is considered a shooter?

And Portal and tF 2 could be found on PC.
Not quite sure what you are saying in that regard.

And Vegas?

Borrowed the First person perspective and matched it with an rpg. The first hybrid of its type to be put out en mass for this generation. In addition i found the Orange Box way more attractive due to the fact of my mediocre computer. Im sure there were others out there that felt the same way. As for Vegas, its probably the best tactical fps out. taking what was great about Gears (the cover system) and mixing it in with the Rainbow series.

I forgot to mention CoD 4. probably the best modern fps ever. The game seems to be getting more attention on the xbox than any system. The first maps were exclusive to the 360 for a week or so, and the controls work oh so beautifully. Add in some rpgish falvour in the multiplayer and a large variety of game modes = heaven!

Well won't comment on Oblivion, it bored me so didn't play it much.

I enjoy the Orange Box and don't get me wrong think it is an awesome deal, but I don't really see how it being on the Xbox helped the genre.

I'm pretty sure Vegas is more of an evolution of their own concepts, but again I've only played Vegas.

Bioshock showed that an fps can have a story that matches an rpg.

Also in development is Fallout 3 which will combine elements of oblivian and bioshock to make a post nuclear war fps rpg. cant wait.

Dyne said it, the hardware is its main problem. The RRoD is a nasty bitch and it's killing them. Granted, it has gotten better but it's still out there.

There's plenty of games out there and many of them are great but it's degraded into a sea of shooters when you're looking for a 360 game.

So much is wrong with the 360 but then so much about it is done right too so I can't complain too much.

I don't really see paying for online playability as a wrong. Xbox Live is polished. And it works. Online play is smooth and functional (at least from my experiences). You've got voice chat. They have a working web cam. And at this point, Xbox Live is far superior to anything Nintendo or Sony have brought to the table. I feel like if we weren't paying it wouldn't be as good.

If Sony or Nintendo ever present an online service that works as smoothly as Xbox Live, then Microsoft can start thinking about either reducing the pricing or making it altogether free.

And I feel like web browsing is just a bells/whistle function. Unnecessary but to cool to have. Its neat if you have a large TV too. But navigating with a controller is so much slower and time-consuming. Its just so much easier to hop on the computer. That's my opinion at least.

I agree with you on it being a 'Shooterbox'. The reason I sold my 360 is because I'm not a big FPS fan. I just never got into it. Of course now I wish I had kept it because of Rock Band.

I never utilized the points system so I can't say anything there.

Its unfortunate Microsoft implemented HD-DVD. No one knew who would win the format war at that point. But it plays DVDs regardless. And at this point, thats still the medium the majority of folks are using in their homes. So I don't think that would be a 'critical' issue until next generation. And at this point, its hard for me to even imagine Blu-Ray becoming mainstream next gen. But we'll see.

I would like to add Microsoft's OOO so slow service of your console.

My 360 has been in the shop for almost 3 weeks now and out of commission even longer than that. I haven't had any problems with my Wii but I have heard stories of Nintendo getting it back to people within the same week.

And I mean the RRoD isn't a rare occurrence. At this point, MS should be able to deal with it a lot more efficiently.

agreed. This whole thing is completely unacceptable, But ill be darned if i could find a better gaming library.

RPGs were using First Person perspectives since at least back to the very first Ultima game (1980).
