How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
Well, we're about 2.5 years into this "next-generation" and I was wondering how everyone feels about their purchase so far, be it the Wii, Xbox 360, or Playstation 3. Or even if you've abstained from the next-generation so far and how you feel about that?
Personally, I've been very pleased with my purchase of the 360. I bought one shortly after launch, and while I probably should have waited until the price drop to buy one, there were still some great games that came out before the price drop, such as Crackdown and GRAW. The console, of course, has been extremely heavy on first person shooters, just like the Xbox, but it seems like this generation Microsoft is making more of an effort to appeal to gamers of other genres. The 360 already has several quality RPGs in Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, and Lost Odyssey.
Overall, I have been very happy with my purchase. My biggest surprise has certainly been The Orange Box - really a fabulous game for a great price. Crackdown was also a surprisingly great game.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
Hmm I am really happy with both of my consoles. Though, they have their ups and downs.
The 360- offers an excellent environment for online games. Some truly fun games and realy popular ones. The hardware however can bite me in the ass all the friggin time. Have gotten RRoD twice.. and currently looking at a 3rd. Trying to hold off on sending it as long as possible, but I will have to send it in.
The Wii- Started off pretty slow Really. Zelda was awesome. Wii Sports was fun, but then it just started hitting its stride with MArio Socccer, Metriod Prime 3 and the holy grail of gaming Mario Galaxy. It has continued into this year with No More Heroes and Smash Bros. It shows that a new controller can help an experience (when done effectively). Online can be a giant pain in the ass. (Hello no invites in Smash Bros), but atleast we are getting online games.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I've been very happy with all 3. The Wii was my first next-gen purchase and it's served me well for the few games I wanna play occasionally. With the Wii, Zelda TP is still the best game on it (for me), and the fact that it launched with it hurt me in the long run because it hasn't gotten that much play since... although Brawl is getting massive amounts of playtime. Next was the 360, I bought about 2 weeks after the Wii and I didn't look back from there. I have put about 300+ hours (most likely) into Gears of War SP and MP and I love the console for providing the amazing times I have had and still continue to have with Gears. But when I finally got the PS3 about a year later than those 2 it has just proven to be the best for me. The games it has are amazing, Ratchet and Clank Future: ToD is pure platforming greatness. And other games like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Resistance, and more to come are gonna keep me playing it more than the others for a while. Currently I have the most games for the PS3 and it seems like it's gonna stay that way especially this year with all the other exclusives coming out.

I think my personal lack of hardware issues with the 360 has been the prime determinant of my enjoyment with the console. It's odd, because I have an extremely early model of the 360, so I really have no idea why I haven't gotten the RRoD, but I haven't. My theory is I keep the 360 in its own little area that is very open and not closed in at all. But anyway, I feel as though if my 360 did have hardware issues I would be much less happy.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
For me (and my brother), the Wii was just something I had to get.
Zelda and Metroid were awesome singleplayer experiences, Wii Sports and Wii Play were a lot of fun with 2 players.
Now that I've played Super Mario Galaxy, I can honestly say I'm very happy with the Wii. My brother's waiting for SSBB (which might not even be released in Europe this year), it's the only game he's interested in.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I'm happy with my 360, although I really haven't had the opportunity to take advantage of it do to home life and work. But the time I have spent with it, I am very impressed, especially with Mass Effect and the overall online component.
I got one after the price drop, but I too have not had any issue with RRoD, and I put in some SERIOUS consecutive hours when I was addicted to ME. Like Bond, I chank it up to giving it a lot of space, and I keep it on its side to let that largest vent on the console get plenty of air.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I'm completely content with my purchase of 2 PS3's. Let alone just 1.
It has built in blu-ray, which turns out works out fantastically for me, not to mention it has one of the best games - IMO - of the new generation on it in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I got my 360 after the price drop this summer. I can say that I have no regrets at all. The game library is excellent, the online is excellent and its just a great experience. I did have an issue with a headset that came with the system but it was still within the 30 day period that the store gives you. Since then ive had no further issues.
Also typhoid, why did you have to get 2 ps3s?

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
Totally happy with all three. It's hard managing time for everyone.
PS3 - ultimate fucking Home Theater tool, especially if you have 1080p and/or HDMI sound. The best Blu-ray player and also offers fantastic upscaled DVDs, music, games, and photo capabilities.
Wii - incredibly fun, if not for just booting up and screwing around with channels and games. Also amazing games like Zelda, Metroid, Mario, and Smash already available.
360 - the first system I got. Definitely has something for everyone in way of games. Also a few arcade titles are definitely worth the money, especially E4 and Rez.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
just PS3 here, and I haven't once regretted the purchase. It wasn't great seeing it struggling mightily in the sales derpartment as that could have negatively affected its lifespan and future game development, but that has turned around and the general public seems to be realizing the sheer value of the system.
I'm a huge movies fan on top of games, and so I get lots of use out of the superpub Blu Ray and upscaled DVD functions...and 2008 looks like a terrific year for PS3 games.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I almost forgot, and don't even know if this counts.
But I have recently fallen in love with my DS again. Since, I now work and have a commute and all that fun jazz it is something to do alongside my MP3 player.
And the DS has had quite a library including new Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time and Phantom Hourglass.
My two current loves are Pokemon Pearl since I pretty much skipped out halfway through the Gold/Silver era, there are a lot of neat changes in this version that I'm sure was added before.
And Prof Layton, which is a nice challenging mental game. I love logic puzzles and the feeling you get from solving them.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I've been happy with the 360 thus far. I've been playing since launch (my roommate had one) but have only had my personal Elite since September, shortly before Halo 3 came out. There have been some really great games to come out, and even more will follow in the future. I'm stuck on Virtua Fighter 5 (I'm an old time VF fan that's been playing since the first game came out in arcades over 10 years ago), loved Mass Effect, and am working my way through Lost Odyssey (albeit very slowly) right now. Cool niche titles like Earth Defense Force 2017 keep me interested as well. Good Times for gaming.

Re: How do you feel about your next-gen purchase?
I haven't really made the proper jump to the Next-gen (with the exception of the DS) and I don't feel like I've missed a lot. I guess gaming has fallen off of my radar in general so I don't particularly miss it that much. I've played some Wii with friends and had a great time, but I've yet to even touch a 360 or PS3...I've been on tour too much in the last few years to have a lot of time to sit down with games anyway.
I feel like I'll buy a couple of these systems toward the end of their life cycle when they are cheaper and most of the games I want are already out. It seems like that'll be the way to go for me this go round.
