Salt and High Frequency Sound

The salt forms different images based on the frequency of the sound. It gets quite high pitched towards the end and the images get more intricate as a result.

I'm more interested in the material they are pouring the salt onto. The fact that its salt may be irrelevant. Either way, its still pretty damn cool.

I'm thinking the speaker emitting the sounds is under the material. Guessing salt on black merely to see it better. Could probably be done with sand or other small particles as well.
