Yahoo! Japan Survey on PS3

- Yahoo! Japan recently surveyed 20,000 users for their opinions on the PS3 retail price:

* 8% (1548 votes) - I will buy the console on the launch day even if the price is high
* 19% (3725 votes) - Undecided due to the high price
* 25% (4814 votes) - I will buy when the price is reduced
* 26% (5171 votes) - Plan to buy when price is reduced
* 24% (4742 votes) - Presently have no interest to buy

Well, that's- hmm.

It's also interesting to note the PS3 is bigger in size than the Xbox and the Xbox 360. Wasn't it such a big deal before about how big the Xbox was when it launched in Japan? Well the PS3 is bigger than the Xbox.

I was not initially impressed and I still am not with the design of the 360. It's plastic. And it's icky white. The PS3 looks much more slick.

no one really cares about the size, its just interesting to see is all.

im surprised they indeed did change the size of it. but its more of a difference then that old/new pic shows. the PS3 before was smaller then the 360. its bigger and fatter too now.

Playstation is doomed in japan because of its size. That's why the wii will sell. There's a correlation with the japanse and size. "It's not the size that matters; it's how you use it." That's also why asian chicks dig white guys.

Who are these people they surveyed? I mean, did they survey the general populace -- ie. nongamers and gamers alike -- or just gamers? Because if they just surveyed 20,000 random people whether they like games or not, and only 24% of them have no interest to buy the PS3, then I think Sony has nothing to worry about.

As for the poll, I think a lot of people are just acting out over the high price. When it comes down to it many of them will buy despite their feeling about the price.

I'm assuming it was an internet poll where whoever wanted to submit an answer did and whoever didn't, did not. I got this from a second hand source so perhaps tomorrow I'll search Yahoo Japan and see if I can find the poll.

The PS3 is bigger because its power supply thingy is built-in, unlike the Xbox360 which comes packed with a super huge-ass power brick. Even so, it's still not as big as the original Xbox.

How true, size is an issue in Japan, I remember when they downsized the ps1 and sales when back up again. I guess it's cultural.
