Super Mario Strikers
Well in this Mario Kart party going on down at the handheld forums, folks seem to be forgetting about the other Mario games that are due out this year.
Well won't blame anyone for not being excited about mario party 7. Mario and Luigi should be a good game.
But I wait for none of them more than Super Mario Strikers (Mario Smash Football elsewhere). Mario Sports games have always been pretty fun arcadeish romps. And this looks to be no different. The official site for the game, atleast UK version has just opened and it has all the info you need on the game including some videos.
So check it out...

Re: Super Mario Strikers
Yeah, I was just thinking about how cool this game will be. The videos I've seen, I've liked.
I don't particularily like the boxart, because it doesn't match up with the other Mario sports games.

Re: Super Mario Strikers
I like the boxart a lot. Kinda reminds me of the Sonic Battle art. But doubt I'll ever lay hands on this game.

I'm not understand this line.... Did Nintendo promise a platformer for Revolution or something?

Well, that, and years of the elusive "Mario 128" that kept getting mentioned for the gamecube.
I'm pretty sure EAD has a Mario Platformer, or at least some platformer in the works along with Zelda: TP right now.

Re: Super Mario Strikers
you know you can play this game at walmart or circuit city, or any place that has a gamecube kiosk...
I think I'll be getting this game... looks hella fun for multiplayer.

Re: Super Mario Strikers
This looks like it could be Ice Hockey for the gamecube, in which case I'd need new pants.
On the other hand, it looks like it could be Sega Soccer Slam 2. Not that that's a particularly bad thing, but I'm certainly not going to buy SSS twice.
If anyone buys it, let us know some of the gameplay details.

Re: Super Mario Strikers
I got it for my birthday - it is very, very good. I played it by myself for several matches to get used to it - then I played with my girlfriend against Typhoid for several matches. Then I had many matches more against my girlfriend - every single one was a bloodthirsty battle. The combination of items, random appearances of Bowser, the over-powerful swipe hit, trick shots, and one-chance shots are just blissfully perfect. The gameplay speed is right on par with what action goes on.
Basically if you play Gamecube and you play Multiplayer often, you can't miss this title. It's like the frenzy of Mario Power Tennis without cheap shots.

I feel so bad I never posted my opinions on this game.. then again it was one of those games I was always busy playing.
But it is one of the top GameCube games, and in my opinion the 2nd best Mario sports game right behind Mario Tennis.
Lets just say its.. well great
I mean like Dyne mentions its a combination of like everything from other Mario games. The items from the Kart series (which makes the most amount of sense here as I don't think they worked that well in Tennis). The randomness of pure Mario? Going for a goal only for Bowser to titl the field the other way? Going for a super strike to get interrupted by a freeze shell?
And of course, the best part of the game to most people... the ability to check your foe into an eletric forcefield. I don't know if I have sick friends or if they just dislike the mario characters but its on of their favorite things.
Also for the most part, the game is really pick up and play. With maybe one or two exceptions most people were able to pick up and start playing like pros in no time.. even those who werte drunk or high.
Hahah had one kid offer me his xbox for the game.
