Default Man sues Copperfield, Blaine for usurping his powers

Read it and be amazed.

In summary, this man (Chris Roller) is suing David Copperfield and wants 10% of his earnings. He also filed a similar lawsuit against David Blaine. His reasoning? The tricks that those magicians perform defy the laws of physics, and therefore, since Roller is a deity with godly powers, they must be making use of his powers for their act. They therefore either owe him money or must prove to him that their magic tricks are actually mundane and of this world.

It's a real lawsuit. And the response by the defense is kind of hilarious. Some actual quotes:

Quote:
Plaintiff’s Complaint is best described as a claim for usurpation of Godly powers, which as this Court is aware, is beyond the jurisdiction of his Court or any court of this earth.

...

Since there has never been any employment relationship between Plaintiff and Defendant; there are no facts, and no legal theory, set forth in the Complaint that could conceivably provide the basis for the relief sought by Plaintiff.

...

Defendant respectfully urges the Court to visit Plaintiff’s website...Therein Plaintiff makes the following claims including:

• Plaintiff is running for President of the United States in 2008 with Bill Gates as his running mate.
• Plaintiff claims he is Jesus Christ.
• Plaintiff claims he is God.
• Plaintiff claims that Katie Couric and Celine Dion are his wives and are going to have his children.
• Plaintiff claims there is a movie coming out soon about his life that stars Tom Hanks.
• Plaintiff claims he has killed all of his enemies.
• Plaintiff claims he will father 1,000,000 babies.
So what do you think? Is this guy for real or is he just playing some kind of publicity stunt to draw traffic to his website? Does he actually believe all this? Is he mentally disturbed?

This sounds like something I would do....

Actually, this totally sounds like my plan to join an all ladies gym, and then file a lawsuit when they dont let me join.

But how can he claim he is Jesus and God?

And if he was Jesus, couldnt he get someone better than Celine Dion?

Donating to charity doesnt make you famous, unless you're famous already.

Nobody cares if a random guy on the street gives 500,000 to cancer research, but if Tom Cruise does it, it would be in the paper.

I was wondering that as well. Logistically that wouldn't work, unless you think about it as God can is everybody, yet nobody.

Can't you damn people acknowledge religion correctly?

God is three things, as per something called "Holy Trinity".

The Holy Trinity (meaning the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit/"Holy Ghost") denotes God in almost all mainstream Christianity.

I took a history of religion course just to find out what the Holy Ghost is. I still don't know.

It's basically omnipresence. Everywhere, all the time, in our hearts, that sort of thing.

That's why it's often called the Holy Spirit more often.

Ok, God is everywhere...and the Holy Spirit is everywhere...but what is the difference? If they're the same then why is there a distinction?

The father figure is the person you address when you pray. Or Jesus sometimes. Also viewed as the creator, referencing the seven days of creation and all that.

Jesus is basically the guy, the "son" of god who lived a long time ago and spread the teachings. After the old testament people were like.. "Who is this god guy anyways?"

The Holy Spirit is like the faith that keeps god around us. Like the burning bush in the bible. That's basically a reminder that he's all around.

But don't quote me on any of this. Sunday School was a long time ago.

Ok, Sean, go find me one religion who acknowledges the existance of both Jesus and God as higher powers, but referencing them as two completely different parties.

The fact that the bible - the only true source and beginnings of religions relating to god - references the holy trinity freely, it's hard to argue.

But if you believe there's some crackpot religion that's NOT based on the bible, or it's a heavily, HEAVILY skewed version of it, I'm 100% interested in knowing about it.
