Bad Sega/Tetsu Kayama
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Tetsu Kayama, COO of Sega talked a little bit about the possibility of bringing Virtua Fighter to the GameCube. Heres the quote:
"I think it is nonsense to directly port Virtua Fighter to the GameCube. For example, we can make it Virtua Fighter Kids to curtail to the lower age demographic. The game system and fun factor should not be changed so that these players can then move on to the next step with the actual Virtua Fighter."
Nice to see that major players like Sega are really helping eliminate those "kiddie" stereotypes. While it's certainly not bad news, hearing Sega say something like that is almost painful. Keep it here for more.

Thats not very encouraging of Sega, like XL has said.

That wasn't a very smart business statement. I mean, he's the friggin' COO of Sega and he's going along with a stereotype that's not completely true. Just because Nintendo itself makes kiddy games doesn't mean that there aren't a large number of people that own a GC that like mature games.

What is so bad about this? Sega is being smart. They know that kids buy Nintendo products, eg. GCN and GBA. Therefore, Sega making a "Kid" version of Virtua Fighter would probably be a good idea. Making the game have no blood, maybe some unrealistic, yet cuddly characters duke it out on the GCN. Oh wait, there is allready a game like that! Super Smash Bros. Melee! If Sega ever makes this game, I assume that it will be similar to SSB:M.

I might rethink getting gamecube if ppl are only gonna make kiddy games for it. SHAME ON SEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that if the "kiddy" version of VF takes all of the characters, and makes then "young-ified", that would be amazing. Maybe created all of the current characters pasts and such. That would be sweet.
And Skies of Arcadia? I didn't hear anybody say anything about that game...

They have made a VF Kids game already for the Saturn if I recall from reading the April Issue of EGM so maybe a sequel to that or something. But the comment still isnt good even though what people say.

Who needs Virtua Fighters when we have Soul Calibur. Hell, even Tekken is better than Virtua Fighters.

I am not sure... It is a possibility. If he was being sarcastic, I find it funny because everybody is getting all worked up about him wanting to make "kiddy" games for GCN, even though it would be a smart move.

whatever kid. I'm enjoying the hell out of Virtua Fighter 4 as I speak. I never liked Tekken. Soul Calibur is good though.

"...soul calibur is good though"
soul calibur is way better than any virtual fighter will ever be.
sure virtual fighter had alot to do with bringing the genre to where it is today but its not like anyone of us actually play the earlier titles and like um *now*.
i mean, they suck!
wait. what am i saying. saying it *suck*ed is a very strong word.
IT WAS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, WORTHLESS PIECE OF EVEN LOOKING AT IT ****!
sorry if i offended anyone, altho it was my intent.lol.
