Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
Okay. Hold your money orders, people. We figured out how to get out movie onto the interweb.
It's called Fade to Black and is a 30 minute long film about ninjas who don't quite act like ninjas.
There are a couple of sound problems and lines that are lost because the lead actor has a tendency to mumble.
I directed and wrote the film and also play the grey ninja.
Dyne is in it for the first minute as the employer.
Hope you all enjoy.
It's quite a large download so prepare to have to wait a while.

436 MB! Thank goodness I have cable. It must be either long or the screen is pretty big. I'll post impressions once the download has completed and been viewed.

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
I liked it.
Some parts were rather random though, like, meaning some scenes we're significantly too short.
But it was still good.
And did you legally copyright it?

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
That was great!
Questions:
- What was the screen ratio?
- What type of camera was used?
- Who is the camera owned by?
- Description of the 'whirring' effect used when one person is looking at another person, and then the camera quickly swilvels toward that person.
- Air hockey table in kitchen used for eating and other non-air hockey actvities?
- Was this a recreational activity or a school based project?
- How much time did it take to make? How money did it cost?
Things I Liked:
- Dyne's voice
- Hearing Dylan and Phil for the first time
- Cinematography (Props to Cedric!)
- The actor who portrayed the Black Ninja
- Music selection
So overall great job.

I helped make akung-fu movie in high-school, but I have no idea how to rip from a DVD and put it on a website.

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
Questions:
- What was the screen ratio?
Not exactly sure. I'll ask Cedric.
- What type of camera was used?
A dvc. Nothing fancy.
- Who is the camera owned by?
The camera belongs to my school.
- Description of the 'whirring' effect used when one person is looking at another person, and then the camera quickly swilvels toward that person.
I'm not sure what you're referring to. If you mean the way the camera moves: it's just a regular pan sped up in the editing program.
- Air hockey table in kitchen used for eating and other non-air hockey actvities?
We didn't have room to set up an actual table. Plus the air hockey table was funny.
- Was this a recreational activity or a school based project?
This was our final project for film class.
- How much time did it take to make? How money did it cost?
We put in over 100 hours of work spanning over three months. It cost about $80 in total. Most of the money went into costume material and then we had to buy tapes. And we also had to buy coffee to get the cups we use in that one scene. Plus, we wanted coffee.
I'd be more than happy to field any more questions.

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
The best part was at the end of the credits.
" What the F**k am I doing saturday?"
" Hey are you filming !?"
" What the F**K!"
I was one of the beta testers. Man that was a great day, we scared those little girls good.

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
I don't have a question but I do have a suggestion. It's okay if you filmed this and show it around. But when it comes to distribution on the internet, you might want to consider using a compression codec such as DivX.... I'm pretty sure it would cut down to 200megs if DivX was used.
I've watched 640x480 30 minute long anime's at 100megs. And hour long 640x480 videos at 200megs. If this can be done, you will be able to distribute amongst the masses of slandering internet drones.

unless you're on dial up, it should take you about 5-10 minutes to download AT THE MOST...took me about 4 minutes. so the size doesn't bug me. although it would be better if it was half the size, then i could have watched it 2 minutes earlier
and i somewhat liked it i guess, needed a lot more humor...it was funny....but not 'haha' funny.
nice work though.

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
Well I'm on DSL at the moment at the speed was limited and it would've taken an hour. I will download this at home on my cable (about 3mb/s on a good night). I will give you my opinion on it, then.
EDIT: I just saw the film, and I thought it was outstanding. It was hilarious in terms of silent but deadly humor. My favorite part was when they were conversing and taking sips from their coffees, but never really showed them actually taking a sip.... good direction. You have a future in Hollywood... specifically in Comedy.

Re: Fade to Black (my ninja movie)
Thanks for that one, especially since I saw your 400+meg one... lol
I gotta say, the direction in that short was superb.
That deserves a sequel and a possible series to air on Adult Swim or something like that.

Haha, thanks. I don't really do sequels but all my movies occur in the same "universe". Dyne's character is a recurring one.
And like Shakespeare, I borrow from old ideas and themes.
But yeah. Perhaps one or more of the characters could come back. I'm thinking of bringing back the girlfriend for something and the burglar. I love turning bit characters into something bigger.
Also, I'm thinking of writing a film around Dyne's character who works for Pyricle enterprises. It would be an allegorical film which likens the business world to the religious realm. If his character didn't star, he'd at least be in it.
