Halo movie!?
According to IGN Microsoft has hired screenwriter Alex Garland (28 Days Later, The Beach) to adapt its hit videogame series Halo for the big screen. Supposively Garland gets a multi million dollar deal and Microsoft will not have anything to do with the movie beyond the script.

Re: Halo movie!?
That could be cool. I never played Halo so this would be a good way for me to get the story. There shouldn't be any budget concerns, so if nothing else, we can at least expect good special effects and design.

Re: Halo movie!?
Is it going to have a massive cliffhanger at the end, too?
I wonder if it would have pop-in.
Ok, I'm done with the jokes. Yeah, it might make a good movie.. But that all depends whether or not Uwe Boll is directing it.

Re: Halo movie!?
Freaky...I watched The Beach right after I saw 28 Days Later...well not right after...saw Bad Boys 2 in between the movie marathon. Didn't realize was same screenwriter...whoa...blows my mind...damn all I ate that day was an apple I stole from my roommate...but it was Halloween so it was ok...that girl was so drunk...ah good times...anyway...
I seriously dislike video game movies (except for Mario which everyone else hated). I see this as being like Starship Troopers except the aliens are cute little buggers inside of cute giant insects.

And "The Station" accordingly is a big-ass hoe, whereas "The Cube" is a 24-pack of beer with two layers of 12 cans each. Put the three together and you got yourself one hell of an afternoon.

Re: Halo movie!?
I think a good movie depends on who is directing, hopefully they can get a good director. For example I am a big Star Wars fan, but if someone else besides George Lucas was directing, the movies could be a lot better. My vote is for Steven Spielberg.
Oh, by the way, here is a link to the article.

Re: Halo movie!?
referring to Danchastu's rather off topic comments... Actually... they do make for a good afternoon. My friend has All Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube and when ever I go over his house, we will always play a variety of games on each console. All 3 is a lot better then fanboy one.
CORRECTION & EDIT: STATION is the little dudes from Bill & Ted and they are the ones whom combined to make a massive Station and create advanced robotics of Bill n Ted... which is a great metaphor for the PS2... mwahahah lol
I plan to NINREV and SONYPS3.... dunno about Xbox 2...
Going on topic here....
A Halo movie would bomb in my opinion. Although the game concept is good, that same concept for the big-screen would be overdone in the Starship Troopers sense.
Although if they changed the script to reflect what we HAVE NOT seen in the game and just have a Halo-BASED movie, then it would probably be cool. But eventually that Starship Troopers image gets instilled in your head.

Re: Halo movie!?
At least for once a game company is even PARTIALLY working on the script. Most of the time they could give 2 ****s less about the movie.
