Since the announcement IGNcube has been able to uncover more details.

While not officially announced, the first Final Fantasy game thought to be in development under the agreement is Final Fantasy Unlimited, a title based on Square's anime series of the same name. In the anime series, a black pillar appears mysteriously in the waters near Japan and begins to summon monsters from another world. A Geologist named Dr. Hawayaka and his wife enter the portal and return later to write about their adventures. When they attempt to travel to the other world for a second time, though, they go missing. And this is when their children, Ai and Yuu decide to look for them.

Akitoshi Kawazu, who worked on Legend of Mana and SaGa for Square, began development on a Final Fantasy Unlimited project for an unnamed console as far back as October of last year. His role in the Q Fund startup studio suggests that the game is indeed bound for GameCube and Game Boy Advance. The titles, according to Nintendo of America, will be totally interactive with one another and will arrive, at least in Japan if not America, before the end of the year.

"This is very exciting news for us and surely for gameplayers around the world," Nintendo of America's vice president of corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan told IGNcube today. "Square's talent is well-respected. Between the combination of their good work, and Nintendo's exclusive connectivity ability between GCN and GBA, the result will be great."

The first titles, whether they be Final Fantasy Unlimited or not, would appear to be originally created for GameCube and Game Boy Advance. The link between the two consoles will certainly be emphasized, said Nintendo of America

Sweet news. I think that GCN and GBA deserves a good old fashion Final Fantasy game that continues the series, not just a little add on. But, this could work out. Is Final Fastasy Unlimited a big success in Japan? If so, sales for GCN can boost up majorly when the game is released. Also, any word on FFU being exclusive to GCN? Because if it is, I think it will be safe to say that GCN will get some huge sales boosts. But, I doubt it will be, because I heard from many place (I think) that Square wants to develop all of its games for all the consoles. Sega copycat! j/k.

I think that Sega will become a console maker... again... once they become the best third party and they are widely known...

Yes, I agree with you on this one. I think that Sega will release a system not this generation, not next generation but half way through the next next generation (PS4 era). I think that Sega will be a huge thrid party company and will have nothing to lose by throwing out another system, well, they can lose millions of dollars, but that's another story.

Even though I'm helping my own topic go off subject... hell, it's my topic, so I can do whatever I want

.... so anyways...

If Sega gains enough popularity among the new generation of gamers, them making a systemcould mean Auto sucsess...

Imagine if EA (the current biggest 3rd party) made it's own system...a LOT of people would be forced to buy there system... plus a lot of developers would owe support to EA (like Square)

Yes, if Sega made its own system, it would have these exclusives : SegaSports, Sonic.. um... I am not a big sega fan.. but there are alot of great games...

EA System : EA Sports, EA Sports Big, EA Games, Square games. That would be a sweet system.

But, there isn't room for 5 or 6 systems. So, this won't happen.
