Look at Super Mario Sunshine--it was a great game, but because a few things sucked, some people said it was the worst game they've ever played. WTF? Those people just confuse me. Hopefully it doesn't happen with Zelda at all--I've been looking forward to it and I don't care if reviews are a little off. It's a game and I want to enjoy it.

I hear ya.
I really enjoyed SMS. Sure it wasn't Mario 64, but how can you improve on that? I mean it's a tuff job. They used SM64 elements with a new engine of gameplay, and it was so good. Exploration wise, gameplay wise, and graphically i liked it. Now that I found out about the "B" before turning on your GC, SMS plays even betta.
I think it's a tougher job to keep up such a great reputation for so long (e.g. Mario/Zelda) than making a brand new game. Bringing out new Mario/Zelda games that still manage to get these great revies.
Because immediately it has highexpectations, and to be able to at least "impress" the people playing these games, I think that's a huge achievement in itself.

Well a whacky Camera can do that
I personally loved SMS, until it started getting hard, then I hated it

no matter how good a game is, there'll always be someone who finds a problem with it, because we all know, no game is perfect, and they will never be completely perfect since different people have different opinions. I dont see two 10's and a 9.5 as a disappointing score, in fact thats an awesome score. This game will rule, regardless of a missing 0.5

I agree... even if a game gets one 10.0 it scored pretty good. All it means is two guys couldn't find a big enough problem with the game to even dock it half a point.... and the guy who did find a reason to score it lower still gave it the second highest score possible.

Well, I think those are all pretty cool games, the only time I have an issue with EGM reviews is when one person gives the game like a 8 and then another gives the game like a 5 or so, those are the games where it's hard to judge if you like it or not.
And how exactly would Wind Waker beat OoT scores, I mean the game got straight 10s so you can't beat perfection.

but, if it doesn't get those same perfect 10s again one would imagine that somthing got worse about the game... It doesn't need to score better in this case, but people would like to see a sequal score equal or better than the first game.

That might be true, but I mean it's not like it's far off from the original, and to some point, this is the 3rd Zelda game using this engine so I'm pretty shocked the score didn't far off much further.

Speaking of EGM...you guys remember that thread from awhile back about how if you entered that code into that one website, you would get a subscription for free? Well guess what came in the mail today

10 doesnt really mean perfection in the reviewing world, cause nobody can know what perfect is, when there is no example of perfect.
10 is just a really good score for a great job.

I think why most people are upset is because Famitsu, a much stricter grader IMO, gave the game a perfect score (just like OoT), and then EGM doesn't score it perfectly or even the same as OoT (did it get a platinum with EGM?)
Anyways, thats my theory...

Mark said the reason he ave it a 9.5 basically was because he didnt like the long rides from Island to Island. I think he also said that it was a little too easy. But meh. His opinion is his, and mine is mine. (As people here have seen). Kind of off topic, but I too got my first issue yesterday Hopefully 11 more come after that.

Zelda OoT is my favorite game of all time, and I had really high hopes for Wind Waker ever since the Famitsu review. Whatever, if you go here, you'll pretty much laugh your asses off on how many fanboys are bashing on eachother.
Anyways, Zelda is awesome, and I am proud of the scores, but I made a bet with my friend that it will get a Platinum in the next EGM. But see, I lost the bet by a damn 0.5.
Other than that, don't you guys get the wrong idea about me. I am not like that, it's just I want great games to get a Platinum. After playing Halo, I was glad to see what it got. Same with other games like OoT and Vice City.

The reason is that ocarnia of time was a revolution in gaming. I mean how many games did you see that were 3d w/ a completely interactive environments back then. It was completely amazing and seriously I don't htink any other 3d game at hte time could keep up with it.
