No. DVDs and CDs are based on the same technology, but the information is packed much much tighter than the information on CDs. In order to read this information, you must have a better laser than that found in regular CD players and your regular stereo just won't have it. DVD players only play CDs because they include a laser designed for CDs. I think Sony invented a laser shortly before the PS2 came out that could read both CDs and DVDs, but you won't find this in a CD player. It's only purpose was so that DVD players could have one laser instead of two.

Now, if you wanted to play this just on DVD players or DVD audio players, then it might work. I wouldn't know.
