I probably will... seeing as now I will have a PC that can actually play games. I am getting a new PC in September. I am thinking Warcraft 3, NHL 2004, and maybe Battlefield 1942...

Re: Re: Re: Re: FFXI Thread #2
For me it's mostly a matter of getting the game earlier... if I had a PC that could run it, I would buy it based 100% off of it's release date, not my bias for PC. if the Ps2 version was out 2-3 months earlier, it probably would change some minds.
PC guys got thier Halo... took a long ass time, but eh. PCers can play Halo while I play Halo 2

True true, But PC guys have so many FPS games, that honestly halo holds nothing new to them. But for thoes that are really looking foward to it, can sleep easy knowing thier multiplayer still pwns Console Halo2's multi.

Ok I just found out something about the World Passes:
In order to switch servers, you MUST create a new character, NOTHING can be transferred to a new server, because the world pass codes are entered on the character select screen, and can not be usedduring the game. There are 30 servers, which will make it hard to be placed on the same ones. But... I'm not sure how exactly Square places people on servers (well, I know its random), but I think the people who buy the game on release are more likely to be placed on the same servers, because I don't think they would give a server with very little people... that's just my theory though. We'll have to wait and see.
You can only hand out 1 World Pass code to your friends a week. If Dylflon wants to give everyone world passes, it would take him like 2 months. Giving 1 pass to each person a week. :\
Which means... getting the clan on one server will be extremely difficult. And I know that I probably will not want to delete my character just to be on the same server. But I came up with a sequence that would work:
- Dylflon buys 1 world pass, gives it to Crono, Crono makes his character and enters in the code.
- Crono comes into Dylflon's server, buys a world pass (must be done ASAP so the next person can sign up faster), gives his code to DarkMaster, DarkMaster then makes his character.
- DarkMaster comes on to the same server as Crono and Dylflon, DarkMaster buys a world pass, he then gives it to the next person
And so on. That's just an example, but it is a chain reaction that will allow us to get on the same server in a smaller amount of time. Even that, though, would take a few hours. After that, the people who got the game on release can buy more world passes and give them out as more GTers buy the game. It will be a lot faster than just Dylflon giving them out, and will require less patience.
How many people are getting the game on release? We should plan this out.
EDIT: The only problem is that we don't know if world passes are available at the starting cities... if they aren't then we may be screwed.

Re: FFXI Thread #2
DarkMaster and I were talking about this the other day. Getting the Ps2 Users online shouldn't be a problem, but some PC guys may have to wait for the timing.
Hopfully you start out with a good amount of money on the game (at least enough to buy a pass) or this could become a problem.
getting the first few guys could work under your system Crono, but I hope some people will be able to wait a day or two to play or have some type of great communication online.
What I find dumb is the fact that you have to create a guy to start, waste your time with him, then get a world pass just to create another guy. That's awful.
I'm getting the game on Ps2's launch, so hopfully things will be ironed out by then, and we have at least 4 peeps in the same server.
By the way, the FFXI forum is coming, and this thread will be moved there, the other can stay plublic

Re: Re: FFXI Thread #2
The only other way is if people won't mind making a temporary character for a few days, just to fool around. Then re-register using a world pass. I'm not too fond of that idea, though...
Like I said, we need to work this out.

Re: Re: Re: FFXI Thread #2
we need a thread about world passes, like for example, who is getting the game at launch and who is getting world passes.
or an even better idea would be for 1 person to buy bout 5 passes at the same time (if posible) and post them in the forum like:
Crono: xxxxxxxxxxx
TheGame: xxxxxxxxxx
Happydude: xxxxxxxxxx
etc. (x being the code)
then those people buy passes and do the same...that way we'll have alot more people faster.

Re: Re: Re: Re: FFXI Thread #2
You can probably buy 5 at one time, but can only give out 1 per week. That's the bad thing...

Amen to that. Although I'm thinking of buying it for computer too because of the upgrades they did to the game. But I'm going to have both as soon as they set a release date for Halo2 that sticks

Yes it does... but the system will move faster with each week, and if whoever is on first can find people to give them world passes it would be great. But if Nobody can, it will be like this:
Week 1:
-Guy #1 invites guy #2
Week 2:
-Guy #1 invites Guy #3
-Guy #2 invites Guy #4
Week 3:
-Guy #1 invites Guy #5
-Guy #2 invites Guy #6
-Guy #3 invites Guy #7
-Guy #4 invites Guy #8
That's 8 guys from here alone in 3 weeks... which isn't that bad... because with each week the invites can double from 1 to 2 to 4 to 8 to 16 to 32... which is way out of our range anyway
I say the people who are more part of a Clique should join later. Or people who are willing to wait it out as another 'person'
I mean, who all is really getting it on it's PC release? Only 2 of these guys will get in, Then the next week 4 more, then the next week 8 more. But I'm thinking 3-4 maybe will have it at launch? Also, who knows? While the guys are waiting they could possibly get into the same server somehow, and that would speed up the process.
