Default Re: Installing RAM.

strange old chinese man at computer store had them running both at same time. thats what im talkin bout. now its silly and pointless, but it CAN be done.

what ends up happening is the motherboard ends up running both types of ram at the lowest speed, so it pretends the DDR is SD in a way.

which as i said is pointless and there are VERY few mobos that will do it. actually im wondering if the even make them anymore cuz i havnt heard about them in a long time. But it is possible to run them both at the same time on the same mobo.

and yes the notches are in slightly different spots on each diff type.

My old RAM was PC100 I believe, and my new stuff is DDR I think. So that rules that question out. But as for the other question...you think I just dont have them in perfectly most likley? They're probably kinda like old NES cartridges...they gotta be in perfect to work...I'll keep trying, thanks.

EDIT: OH, and the RAM does have those notches and its impossible to put it in backwards, I tried.
