They could not possibly fit the entire stoey of Eternal Darkness into a movie. Or even one as complex or interesting. It would become a mindless horror film with tons of zombies and shooting. ED doesn't deserve that.
It deifnetely needs to be a show, not a movie. Or at least a mini-series of TV movies; each once dealing with a different time period (although the first episode should probably have both Alex coming to Rhose Island and the Pious Augustus thing since both are fairly short).
The whole "finding each missing chapter in the mansion" thing should be thrown at. There's no point to it in a movie. It would just waste time mostly.
