That guy is such an asshole. If he really is sick of non-Japanese people with Japanese characters as tattoos destroying "Japense heritage", he could simply refuse to offer Japanese characters as choices for a tattoo.
I also find it ironic that while he's disgruntled with Americans "destroying Japanese culture", he doesn't seem to care much about how people in Japan are pretty much doing the same thing to the English language and American culture. If you walk around in Japan, you can expect to see English written on signs and on shirts because it looks "hip" to them, even if the words make no sense to an English speaker (e.g.
