Default Wave dashing in SSBM

I Was wondering if anybody could tell me how to wave dash in super smash bro's melee (would be appreciated much), because I here its essencial in a tourny.

Well, it can't be that common of a move. I looked through the GameFaq guides and it wasn't mentioned in any of them. I also don't ever remember using it.

It's not, it's a glitch. I think there's only one character who can do it. I remember watching a video at my friend's house that showed it. It took a while to boot up, but you became invincible, so it's useful.

It's simple.

Andrew Lawley explains all:

First, hold down and left (diagonal) or down and right (also diagonal) then press X or Y to jump and almost immediatley L or R. Your character should air dodge towards the ground sliding you forward. Repeat as necessary. Timing is very tricky. It may take a while to get your technique down.

Wavedashing is pretty much useless unless you're like a Smash Bros. expert and you go to big tournaments and stuff. All it does it make you go a little faster, or if you do it by the edge you'll grab the ledge and then if somebody else was trying to get back they couldn't because you'd be in their way.
