Jason, there is a HUGE diference. PSOne is a smaller verson of Psx, no enancements, no nothing. Plus PSOne wasn't released while Psx was still selling 200,000 units perweek... Psx was far gone and on it's death bed when PSOne came.
GBA, on the other hand, is still in it's sales "prime", and SP came with more than a shape shift.
-EDIT-
The Psx/PSOne comparision is more like saing the origanal Gameboy has nothing to do with Gameboy pocket Which they had everything to do with each other. SP is quite a bit more of a change.

It really isn't all that much of a change. I'd still consider classifying the GB SP and GBA. All that it has is a backlight, rechargable batteries, and different controller format. It still plays the same games and nothing new.

That's why I said you can't use it as an excuse, and why I put the bail out picture.
Can we have nachos now? All this confusion is getting me hungry.

yeah, you are right, that is absolutly no change at all
If the change is big enough that original GBA owners would turn around and warrant a purchase of this system, I think that the launch of it could be used as an excuse for it bumping up in sales.
I think that it can be counted with GBA, but it's more than a goodexcuse for the pumped up sales. Give it a few months, I'm sure it will get back down to normal.
Anybody who thinks GBA:SP doesn't have EVERYTHING to do with this bump in sales figures is completly ignorant. In other words it's like thinking if there was no "SP" GBA would still be selling this well right now... give me a break.
DsH didn't bail out of anything, he simply stated a fact.

Ok, even though it has different features, it is still the same thing. Like computers, one could be made by compaq in 1990 and then u can look at an Alienware that cost 4,000. The Alienware is a huge improvement but it is still a computer.
Do you see where I'm getting at?

So what we're all saying here is that the launch of the GBA SP is no reason for the system to tally higher sales numbers?

I wasn't using it as an excuse like "Ooo they shouldn't count GBA SP as the same thing as GBA", I was saying it's a new thing, and when new things come out they sell at lot all at once for the first few weeks or so, and when there's a surge in sales for any reason it's not an 'as usual' kinda thing...

Im sure MK: DD will be a huge seller, and maybe F-zero with the right marketing. Nintendo has also said a Pokemon RPG is in the works.

God danm, Atari! You have a perfectly good movie franchise and you still manage to fudge it up!
...by not making a game for the GBA.
