Stu, there's a huge difference between PSX/PSone/PS2/PS"X". PSP is going to be running on juice from the time you leave your house until the time you get back.
Firstly, I looked at the specs for the N-gage. What's talk time? Mediocre. Wanna play Sonic N? How long do you honestly have with a decent amount of talktime? You're going to need a fuel cell with functions like that. Now Sony wants to make this a discman/portable DVD player/gameboy, with a huge ass backlit LCD. L-C-fecking-D. How much time could you run on one of those? If you watch a movie for 2 hours with the LCD, that wouldn't necessarily leave a lot of game time. Plus, batteries are most likely heavy, and good quality ones with lots of juice are going to be that heavy. I have no problems with the storage medium.
I think people are going to have to worry if this will fit into your pocket or not with that size LCD. If you want to make a playstation remake that used analogs, put an analog on the thing. Aren't people going to question what that big thing poking out is?
It's just not a portable idea right now. They might be able to pull it off. But perfectly too? We'll have to see.
