NHL entry draft is just like any other sports draft...

It'll be nice to see Gilmour in the old Blue and White one more time...he was my favourite player for quite a while...I still have his jersey (size small...I was like 10 )

Phil Housley will help out the PowerPlay...and it'll also force Quinn to bench someone like Berg (thank god)

You do not know how excited I am about the Leafs right now.

And you know what? The first round matchup between the Flyers and the Leafs is going to be PHENOMINAL!

A Leafs vs. Wings final would be spectacular.

Yea, Original 6 matchups in playoffs are awsome.

Would be a lot of fun for the 2 cities too.... being neighbors to each other. just hours away. could imagine fans driving back and forth from each place....

each city putting thier teams signs up on thier side of the border. hehe.

would be fun. i miss playing toronto as much as we used to when they were west. Altho if another team ever gets added to West... Detroit would be next to move to the east... woo! hehe

I don't think aquiring gilmour was the wisest move. I don't see how he's going to add much spark to the leafs. Douggy should've stayed in Montreal.

Leafs dont need spark. They need skill and Experience.

they got plenty of that now. experience REALLY helps in playoffs. experience will lead a team. regular season and playoffs are very differnt. as many teams find out.

Well, imo the leafs aren't lacking in the experience department. Sundin isn't a rookie anymore. Also, doug's good, but not that good. I just don't think he'll be as productive on the leafs as in montreal. There's a lot of good guys on the leafs now brimming with talent and spark. imo it just wasn't the best trade. Leafs don't really need him. ...montreal does. ...and it's not like the leafs need doug to bring back some fan support.

sometimes teams will make a trade just for a Playoff run.

like we had wendel Clark one time and didnt see him anymore. and theres been others. They dont work out they dont.

But one thing the leafs are really working at is Depth. some of the better teams dont have this as much as the others. to be able to put out your 4th line and have it as good as first and 2nd lines on other teams is absolutly HUGE in the playoffs.

and the leafs have added depth as well as experience... IMO they made good trades.

For the Leafs, it was a great trade. It was just a 6th round pick wasn't it for Gilmour, wasn't it?

And trade deadline day isn't as fun when your favourite teams are the Penguins and Oilers. The Pens pretty much traded away their team by now, and the Oilers aren't getting better.

Pens and oilers

Anson Carter and Niinimaa. Man, that's some good talent gone.
Well, i think Montreal should've kept gilmore...he would've helped them in the playoffs. But whatever.

It wasn't a wise move? HA! You must have absolutely no clue how much us Leaf fans love Dougy G. He is a hero here in Toronto. It is a wise move because a) Leafs did not give up much, only a bad draft pick, b) Leafs needed at least one more forward for the playoffs, and Dougy is just the man for the job, and c) Dougy wants to finish his career in Toronto and he has one more chance at winning the cup.

I don't see how he's going to add much spark to the leafs.
Dougy will add spark in two ways : By scoring goals, and by creating atmosphere in the stands. All Dougy has to do it touch the puck, and the crowd will go crazy. This will get the team even more pumped up than they allready are. And if Dougy scores! WOWZERS. I really do not think you will hear the Leaf fans cheer any louder. And this guy is their old captain, and many of the Leaf players have high respect for him and have allready played with him on another team. Trust me. Dougy G will spark the Leafs, even if he doesn't score much.

Douggy should've stayed in Montreal.
Why? So he could play golf during the playoffs, and then retire in the offseason? Montreal has a chance at making the playoffs, but I really do not think that they will beat out the Rangers/Islanders/Panters. And, this would have been Dougy's last season in the NHL if he would have stayed with the Habs. Now that he is a Leaf, he might play another season (or two at the MAX), depending on how well the Leafs do in the playoffs.

Well joeiss,
I guess i just don't see how gilmour will add more enthusiasm to toronto's fans....I think they're at the max already. Gilmour's a good addition to the leafs...but i'm talking more from a montreal point of view. They got jewed in this deal. They also lost their playoff leader. As much as it's nice for gilmour since his career's almost over, Montreal needs to make the playoffs too. Gilmour's a loss. But ya, from that point it's good that gilmour got traded. He needs a ring.

He allready has a ring.

And... I really do not think that Montreal will make the playoffs. And if Dougy stayed with Montreal, and they did make the playoffs, BOOM! He makes 1.2 million dollars. How so? Well, his contract stated that if they made the playoffs, then he is owed $500,000 and then he gets $700,000 in the offseason just for retiring or something odd like that. I know that Montreal isn't really strapped for cash, but that is just extra money down the drain.
